Ok so I am looking for some mag powder to try some new loads in my 7 Mag when I get home (stuck in TN waiting on a customer I hate late people). I just ordered a #8 keg of 7828 and Mag pro. I stumbled onto H450 and have never heard of it let alone see it for sale (Cliff's Gun Smithing). So my question is what is this powders primary use and dose it have anything it comes close to on the market now for me to compare it with? ??

H450 was discontinued many moons ago. I used to use it in 7mm mag and in 7mm br. I don't remember the loads but I don't remember if you screwed up + .5gr you could blow up a gun. It was also temp sensitive as all get out. It maybe just me but I would leave it on the shelf.
I would maybe take it if he was giving it away but I wouldn't buy it. Like I said it was very temp sensitive and that is probably one reason they quit making it.

Chuck, This is discontinued. From what I found out it was discontinued some time back. It is suppose to be close to H4831. It was in Hodgdon's #26 manual. I have #27 so I'll check to see if by chance there is data in that and get back to ya.

Chuck, There is data in Speer #13 Sierra's 50th Anniversary Edition and Modern Reloading First Edition. If you don't have access to these I can get you the data for what weights you want to use. This is if you plan on getting this to use.

Think I will pass on this did some digging of my own (still waiting on a customer did I mention I hate late people) and it is very temp sensitive like Dan pointed out and has been discontinued since I was in my early teens lol. But thanks Gary he also has AA3100 but it was recalled so I will stick with 7828 and Mag Pro for now.................

I haven't heard that powder mentioned for years so I looked in one of my early Hodgdon manuals #19 ca. '64-'65. Among their 11 listed rifle powders H450 lies between 4831 and H570/H870(listed together). One of the interesting bits of trivia is their cost calculator for .30-'06. Bullets were $1.00, primers $0.16, powder;50 grs. 4895 $0.42 total is $1.58 for 20 plus brass, which when using once fired which you purchased and shot, would be $2.50/20. A factory box is listed @ $5.00 so we saved $0.92 per box.
