Although I have never considered myself a "collector" of 1911's I do have seven and they are all from different manufactures. They are all .45 ACP and are all shooters (no safe queens); when I think of Mr. Browning's creation I think of the caliber as part of the design. I also think of the materials as well (the idea of a plastic 1911 just doesn't compute). My most recent acquisition is a Kimber Custom II and I ended up with it because it is a 10mm AUTO and I didn't have one. When I first became interested in the 10mm AUTO I selected the 1911 because of it's size and strength, it seemed like a natural choice. So now I have seven 1911's and a Kimber 10mm . . . I just can't bring myself to call it a 1911. I say all of that to say this . . . Hacker, I found your post very interesting and I think I may look into these offerings. I have informed my wife that if this leads to buying another gun, all the blame should fall to you. My reason for acquiring another gun would be based on doing comparison of metal and polymer but actually acquiring another gun would be your fault. If I end up with one I most likely won't call it a 1911 without some sort of footnote. As the lady said; "The cat can have kittens in the oven but you can't call'm biscuits."

Give me a place to stand and a long-enough lever, and I will invariably break the lever.

Hacker, I appreciate your post, but somehow, it just doesn't seem right. Of course, if JMB had had plastics available, he'd have probably somehow gotten in on it. Larry, loved your post-I think you may have won the internet today !
