Thanks for the info . . . one of these would go well with my CMP 1911

I'll be interested in seeing what pricing will be like. It looked like they were putting together a pretty elaborate classification system. Maybe I missed it, but was there any indication how many they had ?

Maybe we can work out a 2 for 1 deal with them . . . They have very limited information so far.

I suppose anyone that owned a M1 Garand a M1 Carbine and a 1911 would be the proud owner a the triple crown of that era.

I had one in the early '60s but didn't value it as I should have. I was fun to shoot and I would chuck the full metal jacket cartridges in my lathe and file them to make soft points for hunting. I would like to get one but being more respectful of the carbine this time around.

Bob ~ Aside from the rework with the lathe our stories are much alike. I bought one at an Army Surplus Store in Culver City. As I recall they were in a large cardboard barrel with no protection from banging together. I used to take it out to the desert with "lots" of surplus ammo and spend the day. I can't say I took care of it and I sold it a while later for $100 (and I made money). After all . . . "I could always buy another one"; they were everywhere. If I manage to get one now, I too will treat it with a lot more respect.
Hal ~ I have the 1911 from WWII and also an M1 Garand so maybe I should go for your "Triple Crown Title"

Midway is doing a great job hyping this. They've posted availability and pricing in advance of the order deadline in four days. My guess is they'll break the internet when it's time to push the buttons. Pricing ? Hey, they're entitled to make a buck !

Well my ears pricked for a second after your first post, then I remembered why I don't have one already. Never was into historical gun-safe queen acquisitions....I even sold my Gold Cup and bought a 1911 I didn't feel guilty shooting. My brother-in-law had one, I shot it a few times, and remembered thinking that my Mini-14 was a lot more fun to shoot......so I'm not too heartbroken. I do have some brass.....reloaded for the brother-in-law before he died.
Guess I'm not much of a traditionalist......my AR-15 is a Ruger, and my AR-10 is a Remington! No M1 Garand or M14/M1A either, my Remington AR is too heavy for my liking...not interested to two more heavys to wear me down....heh....too danged old. Speaking of heavies, that M1 carbine is way heavier than the Ruger Mini-14. That's a detraction for wimps like me.
Don't have the Mini anymore....gave it to my 2nd son.....yes....one i miss....he lives in Texas.....miss him too. I would buy another classic one of these.....

A nice, clean INLAND with a serial number in the 830,000 range has found its way into my safe. I got it in the midst of a somewhat convoluted trade (I would say my actual investment is about $600). She's battle warn but overall in good condition. There is no strap and only one magazine.

Congrats there Larry. So now you have the triple crown. Oh, by the way do all numbers match?

Larry, I'm glad it went to a good home ! Mine's an Underwood, so it was made by the same people who made the typewriter I used in college !

So Larry you got Cadillac and Pooh you got a typewriter enjoy them. The way I ruined mine was to file the sear so it became fully auto but wouldn't stop when then trigger was released also took 2 magazines and made a 30-40 or more round magazine out of them. Don't let a young man with metal skills and a metal shop near yours. And yes I could have saved the gun but I was too worried so I destroyed it.

It looks like everything is original and although she is battle warn she works well. I don't plan to make ANY changes nor let anyone else work on her.

I remember when carbine brass was on almost every table at every gun show. Not so much these days. I have some; just one small bucket with mixed range brass waiting to be cleaned and reloaded. If you have any you would consider selling, let me know. Maybe we could make some kind of trade . . . trading is always more fun than buying.
