In the current issue of Handloader magazine (#333 of August, 2021) the cover story covers the Area 419 Zero reloading press. A nine stage turret press “Precision-Milled for Accuracy”. I was not aware of this product or the company itself. I must say this is impressive equipment and their claims make it sound like the perfect reloading press. However, with the price of $1,200.00 I don’t plan on running out and buying one anytime soon. Their use of terms like “zero friction”, “zero tolerances” and “zero gravity” make me wonder how much magic is involved in the product. Area 419 also offers a “Master (powder) Funnel Kit” made of CNC Machined Aluminum with caliber specific screw-on adapters as well as a “Billet Loading Block” with 50 cartridge ports and non-slip rubber feet. Both of these items have comparable prices to the press. This equipment would sure look cool on my bench; they would make people think I know what I am doing. Check out their website (www.area419.com) and then get out your checkbook and let me know how these things workout for you. ~ Keep your powder dry and stay safe.

Too bad they don't make a progressive with their zero friction, etc. know how.... I actually got tired of loading on my RockChucker.....impatience grows the older I get. When I got "old", I started thinking in terms of how much time I have left.....and do I really want to load one cartridge at a time. The problem I have with turrets....any turret, is you still load one at a time. With a progressive you stroke 5 times (on a five station press)to get your first cartridge (turret-like).....and from then on, all comparisons with a turret is over.........each stroke makes a finished cartridge. And once you tweak things you can go compete with everybody except the benchrest folks.........and there never was a more boring competition from my point of view. This turret would surprise me indeed if it could make bench resters retire their Arbor Presses......I REALLY don't have patience for those. Let me know when they make a progressive.....and maybe I'll win the lottery and be interested in buying one!

That press and associated pieces look very nice and would probably make my bench look better. Aside from being a single stage slow poke and while a Cadillac may look better than a Chevy they both will get you there I'm not getting that 419 kit. GW, you could probably turn one into a progressive.

You guys know darn well I'm just hovering barely above a stump in dumbness. But in spite of that I still manage to have fun.
When I was a little boy I took my Dad's WW2 relic apart (a Japanese battle rifle) and tried to sportsterize it.....and ruined it totally. He didn't care, but I still kick myself.....would love to have one that nice, today. Now that's what I would do trying to turn that fancy press into a progressive......difference now is.....I know better than to try.
What surprises me about you Bob, is your patience at your age. Kudos to you! That said, I wonder what sort of guy would buy that expensive turret press. It makes a Redding seem cheap.
Oh, and BTW, I like the looks of Chevys way better than any gawdy Cad.....but my 1968 Pontiac Goat was my favorite car.

I read the Handloader article, and it appears to be a beautiful piece of work. I've got to wonder, though, how it would handle case forming operations and the like. Also, I don't know if my skills justify that level of precision ! I'll stick with the Rock Chucker-I can crush Volkswagens with it, if need be !
Been a little scarce lately. It's just gotten so it isn't too painful to type ! (Nothing serious-just too many New Hamster winters !)

Sorry to hear your hands are mistreating you, Pooh. You need more Boron. Has sure made a difference for these old bones and joints. Which R. C. do you have? I, II, III, or more! I have the II....acquired after I gave away my I. Hard to beat an R. C. especially for crushing beetles.

Greg, 12 mg/day has been if not an absolute cure, a real mitigator of my knee pain. I've had times when I felt a spell coming on, and it went away. This is over a couple of years now. This wrist thing is recent and may be something like carpal tunnel. I keep hoping it will go away !
My Rock Chucker II joined me around 1987, when I blew out the linkage in my Lee Press. (The Lee Press was restored to service when I found Lee's parts page, and the two now coexist.) But when I resizing or reforming, or extruding bridge girders for highway work, RC gets the nod !

If it is Carpel Tunnel you need to run not walk to hand and wrist surgeon who specializes on carpal tunnel.....it only gets worse. I had the operation done, on an afternoon in the surgeon's office and it took 15 minutes. He asked me if I wanted to watch. Big Baby said not hardly, but my wife did.....she only got a "little" green. I say run because the difference was immediate and I put it off for a whole year of pain, that didn't have to be endured. So where did I look?.....at the wall. BTW, my Boron is Borax bought at Walmart....a few bucks for a big box of it. Yep, the box says "poison" don't ingest. Look up "Boron Conspiracy" on Google. I should be dead now having taken a 1/4 teaspoon a day for 5 years.....instead I'm waaay better than I was. In spite of the permanent damage done to my joints before I discovered it. I'm not getting worse and what I have is mostly painless. I'm sold... as for poison.....salt is poison if you take too much.....so is water.....and sugar is the worst.
