I hope & pray for all that live on the north east coast and all that have been affected by this weather event. We were in the sights of Ida but it missed us when it turned to the north. We never lost power but those to the east and south caught a direct hit. September in south Louisiana gets pretty hot. From the looks of the devastation from the south to the north some people lost everything including life. I hope all at 2A are safe.

Thanks for checking in. My part of New Hamster was kind of on the northern fringes, so we got a little extra rain, and even that was less than predicted. Happy to hear you weathered it ok-lotta prayers for those who didn't. Hacker, you're about half way between us, how did you do ? Meanwhile, those of you in dessicant land can gloat !

Thanks for checking in on us Hal. Pooh we got hit with a loy of rain. To me it had to be the most rain in a 24 hour period. During the 1972 Hurricane Agnes. In five days between 20 and 24 June 1972, the tremendous storm brought 13.53 inches of rain to the Susquehanna Valley. The amount of rain in the short period created the worst flood condition in central Pennsylvania since 1936. The 24 hour period we had depending on whos rain gauge between 7 to 9 inches of rain. The Susquehanna Valley is the area I live in. Those more to the East of us got hit really hard as in New Jersey and in New York as NYC got naild hard.

i really don’t like to gloat about stuff but so far this year we really have enjoyed the weather for a change. The monsoon season has really been good to us. We get some rain most days and I love the thunder storms. Relatively little high water issues in this area and a dry day or two between storms lets the rain soak in before we get the next storm. The prairie is green, the water-holes are full the streams are flowing this is the prettiest we’ve seen in the four years we’ve lived here. I hope I’m not jinksing this by telling you about it. It seems that the weather is mostly something we can complain about just about everywhere. Too dry . . . too wet . . . too hot , , , too cold . . . the wind blows the blossoms off the trees . . . not enough wind to turn the wind-mill . . . and so on. It is nice to be praying to say thanks for our beautiful summer locally in among our prayers for those dealing with all the bad weather issues around the country. I suppose I’ll have to eat some of these words in the next fire season with all the under-growth and thick brush the rain is bringing. ~ Hang in there and keep your powder dry, Larry

Took the wife to Cumbres Pass where the family has a cabin in the SW Colorado mountains this last weekend. We had more rain in Farmington NM than we did there. In fact Wednesday we had rain and t storms all day, with rivers running in the gutters....but no flooding. We needed the rain! We witnessed something for the first time in the mountains Friday night. To the north east we had an hour and a half light show, starting at 10 PM. It looked as if Denver was being attacked by bombers. The sky lit up with lightning every 5 to 10 seconds for the whole 90 minutes....but it was too far away to see the bolts or even hear the thunder, just the pulsating blasts of orange light. Aircraft even diverted to go see the show....which added to the "bombers" effect. It was amazing.....and a bit sobering.....
Constant pulsating explosions.....we wondered if WW3 was starting.....and Denver was history.... Next morning ..... normal. We got no rain....which in itself was unusual up there this time of year. The other light show was the incredible stars and milkyway.
Thankful you and yours are safe! When I was 20 I lived in Vicksburg Mississippi for a couple of years.....Hurricane Camille hit Biloxi and New Orleans. It was just as devastating as this one. I had friends in Biloxi who lived in a little 2 story a mile from the beach. There was a giant grocery store across the street.....they slept through it.....next morning, they went outside and across the street the grocery store was gone, except for the concrete floor......they only lost some shingles.....talk about lucky.

Great shot Greg. I find that seeing that kind of thing keeps me as close to humble as I get.

Great shot Greg. I find that seeing that kind of thing keeps me as close to humble as I get. You're not alone with that. Man is .........ah......puny? Maybe we ought to think about repentance while we still can?
We were hoping the storm was moving away from where we were.....it was....we were not unhappy about that. I feel terrible for the people who were affected by the hurricane, another thing entirely......
