Well guys since I have trouble with my eyes using an round aperture and seeeing a dark spot in the lower left. I see this in any small round hole. I did search for a different arrangement for my M1A pellet rifle and found rectangular aperture sight. I had looked over some blogs on this and the general comments are that this type gives you the sharp clarity in top to bottom and the light transmission of left to right. Will this be better for me I don't know. shootingsight.com/?product=rectangluar-aperturerack-assembly-m1m14-nm

Give me a place to stand and a long-enough lever, and I will invariably break the lever.

Hacker, it took me a couple of days to get my brain wrapped around a non-round aperture. I guess it would work. Meanwhile, have you considered a red dot on this critter ? I've had good luck with them.

Pooh very interesting. I know that there has been 22lr trainers of military rifles made. I one saw one of a Springfield 1903 at a show years ago and it had a stout price on it.
