Well guys I'm on "Powder Valley" email list. So I looked at what primers might be available. Low and behold found Federal large pistol in stock but can only thousand at a time. So with the added charges a tad over $135. One LGS had Fed. match lg pistol mag at $140 then there's tax on top of that.

Continued scarcity has led me to focus my shooting, shooting fewer rounds. In fact, I've even given up warning shots...

Guess I will take the guns out of the safe and move the primers inside. I remember raising heck when my LGS went over $30/1000 . . . it doesn't seem like it was that long ago. Due to my age and my current supply I thing I may not have to but primers again

Ran across a note that indicates that Sig is looking at making its own primers. No confirmation yet. Billy Holiday was right: God Bless the Child Who's got His Own.

If SIG has to build a factory, etc, etc. I t will be a while. I hope they build for more than their own product needs. SIG is the kind of company that does things right!

So is SIG an American Compay? Obviously, I no nothing about Sig. I've heard rumors of new primer companies at every primer shortage I can remember.......I hope this one turns out.
I'm glad I bought primers before this one.....it wasn't due to the primer supply threat you guys are talking about.....it was because RCBS and CCI gave up on the APS primer system.....so all my stash is APS.
Once I use it all up I have all those empty primer strips to use with my Primer strip loader and conventional primers.....win, win for me, as long as we can still buy primers period....at a reasonable price.

Yes, I know. Pretty sure they are gone forever. Good thing I have an APS Strip Loader and hundreds of empty strips. Dodo birds.

GW, I had one of those contraptions but I didn't care for it so I gave the whole system away. I had trouble with it probably due to operator error also I was loading the strips myself, perhaps if I had used the preloaded strips I would've had a better feeling towards it.

Bob, RCBS could've and should've made the strip loader better....a little better was all they needed. I modded mine to make it work perfectly....think I posted it here years ago. The problem was, it didn't seat the primers deep enough, and even in their directions they said to slide something smooth and hard over the top of the loaded strips to push down any possible proud ones that caused hangs. Dumb....why didn't they update and fix that.....that's the RCBS company weakness. They'd rather create a whole new press and system rather than perfect their last better idea. Never have understood that about them....Dumb!
That system was wonderful once tweaked, and the safest primer handling system ever. But what'd they do....instead of tweaking it slightly, they went back to the archaic and dangerous tubes in their new progressives. They have some good engineers working there, but they misuse them, putting out products before they're ready and bullet-proofed.....and don't even allow needful tweaking and updating once introduced.
They make great products....almost finished, but they rarely finish them. Seems they'd rather replace them with another unfinished design. But I still like their products, because the finishing is usually very easy....and once done, hard to beat.

Bean counters ugh! Also I didn't/don't load enough of any one cartridge (primer type) to make it worth while.
