Well guys it was a couple months ago I posted about the S&W CSX metal frame compact 9mm. I thought WOW a non polymer handgun. Now I just learned that they are making their M&P 2.0 with a metal frame. So could this be a trend back to a metal frame semi? Time will tell if anyone else follows suit. www.smith-wesson.com/product/mp-m20?sku=13194

Hacker, hard to say. If there is metal in future guns, I'm pretty sure it's not going to be "real" steel. Lots of interesting alloys out there- machining ? Maybe, but not by machinists. I don't know about you guys, but I'm glad I came in on blue steel and walnut !

As I look through my safe the things that stand out are mostly blue and walnut. A few special parkerized pieces are very special and some stainless are great looking but blue and walnut still hold the titles.

I have one where I actually took off and store the walnut and replaced them with a soft pachmyer wraparound grip.....Ruger .357 Security Six. And of course there's my Ruger 556 rifle......and my Remington AR-10 clone all camoed. The rest...yup blue and walnut......oh wait....I do have my .22-243 custom that's just weird.....but I acquired that when it was abandoned and had to repair it so it would feed. double trigger FN Mauser....remember? I have no idea what the stock is.....maybe maple? See....weird. (the diamond insert is Walnut....does that count?)

Wood counts period. I took the Pachmeyer grip of my 1911 Gold Cup and replaces it with a pair of correct walnut grips just backwards I guess.

You ever tried to shoot a Security Six with those awful wood grips? If you had, you'd know it was a necessary change for hand preservation....painful as hell otherwise. The Pachmyers made the gun heaven to shoot. But I wish my Kimber .45 ACP had walnut grips, like the Gold Cup I sold.
The grips in the picture are rubber.....not as pretty as walnut! But they are comfortable. My hands are too small to even think about Pachmyer wrap-a-rounds. Ugly too. Wonder if anyone makes walnut grips for Kimber Target II's

My Kimber 1911 Custom II has wood grips from Hogue. I also have a set of Kimber 1911 wooden "Friends of the NRA" grips. Check out their website.

Ha....I'm too impatient, I see.....yesterday I ordered some rosewood grips from an Amazon page....don't know the brand, but if it looks like the picture, will be pretty.....we shall see. $20 was worth the risk.....or I can put the rubber ones back on. I don't know much about Rosewood.

Thankyou! I probably would have never done this without this thread. I'm impressed...perfect fit....Rosewood....just as hard and pretty as walnut....maybe a Chinese tree..... Came from them. Even got a little suede sleeve for the old rubber ones. $20.

Very nice. They look good on your Kimber. I would like to have a set in Red Oak with a deep oil finish.

Greg, when I saw the post telling us to look, I feared for the worst, and happily, I was wrong !! It's great when something works. :-) Almost surprised you didn't 3D print something

They do look great, but I shoulda known only a Chinese product would be that cheap. Buyer's remorse.....I know the Chinese people are just people, but don't like the idea of providing more riches to their Government. They will bite the hands that feed them.
