The third round of 1911 offerings from CMP are being made available through the end of September. I am not eligible because I got one in the first round. Mine is in great condition and came in a new Pelican Case. The prices aren't anything to write home about compared to current new 1911's but you're buying history. Here's the direct link if you're interested: thecmp.org/sales-and-service/1911-information/

Give me a place to stand and a long-enough lever, and I will invariably break the lever.

Whew. Got a nosebleed looking at the prices ! Glad it all worked out for you, Larry, but it's sure a long way from getting a usable Garand for ~150, back in the day. Then again, this isn't 1980 !
I wonder how many takers they're getting this time around ?

Probably best. When I die my kids would probably throw it away! The good part is there will be more for you.
