Well I'm sure you guys had to do this and that is to let the barrel cool down after shooting a bunch before shooting the next batch. I also know that this does consume some time in letting the barrel cool down. Having several load combos to shoot to see what works well and barrel cool down can have one at the range for several hours. This also includes swabbing the barrel when cool to get some of the crud out as not to interfere with the next group. Put a fan to the barrel and that will speed up the cool down. I know guys that the ranges don't have electrical outlets to plug a fan into but I did find one that you put in the chamber to get the barrel cooled down. MagnetoSpeed makes such an instrument. So here's the link and they have a video with it. magnetospeed.com/products/riflekuhl

I saw that, what do you think of it? I'm interested because I'm tired of taking 2-3 rifles to the range for cool down time.

Give me a place to stand and a long-enough lever, and I will invariably break the lever.

Better mousetraps all the time ! I've seen guys using air matrress pumps for this in the past. I wonder if the cooling is uniform through the wall of the barrel ?

Probably not for the length but perhaps through the wall also cooling would be dependent on ambient air temperature.
Gary, I was looking for your own thoughts about it from what you have read.

I guess this proves who's serious about shooting and who isn't so much. I have the bad habit of taking most guns I own to the range and shoot them all.....then I get tired and go home....so I never seem to overheat barrels. I think that means you guys are more serious about it than me.

Greg, I only take one or two with me, not because I'm serious, but I drive a Subaru-not enough space for everything !

Greg, if you're able to take most of your guns to the range at one time, you either have a big truck or you need more guns.

Bob you were asking what my thoughts were on this device. I did some searching to find if there were any videos on someone test this thing out. Well I found one. It shows the tempt range and the time for cool down. As my thoughts I think I would like one but not right now. The price doesn't seem bad and one could get a couple to put in your range bags and boxes. So have a look at this video of a review of this product.

Greg, if you're able to take most of your guns to the range at one time, you either have a big truck or you need more guns. I do need more guns! My wife says, "like a hole in the head". My truck nowadays is a FourRunner...hate the beeping, bleeping thing, but it has room for my dozen fun guns. Actually, I lied a little.....I don't take my Chinese SKS. That was a cheap thing I bought when I was a little dumber. Cost me $50...not sure it's worth that. So see I'm way behind you guys with your 100's.
I sure can't go shooting without my AR-10 and AR-15. Wouldn't think of leaving home my revolvers and pistols. Hunting rifles...I only have one .243.....I don't hunt like you guys do. Well, I guess some people hunt with the Remington AR-10 I have....I don't. Can't leave home my .22-243, or .17 HMR....and I take various .22's for the grand kids to shoot, rifles and pistols, including my favorite .22 pistol below:
