Ok we know that there's been paper shotshells for over 150+ years. Federal has their Champion shotshell in paper and Remington introduced Peters Premier Blue. Well what do you think of a paper shot wad/shot cup? Well federal has been working on such for awhile now. This is the going trend in Europe with the push to keep plastic out of the environment. You know like with using non-toxic shot for hunting and the non lead type of bullets for hunting as in California. Federal has two types of loadings lead and steel. Have a look over this article and comment on what you think. www.ontargetmagazine.com/2023/04/field-tested-federal-ammunitions-new-shotgun-shells-with-paper-wads/

I like the idea, assuming it doesn't make an already expensive sport prohibitively expensive. Us old timers will recall shot shells were once loaded with fiber or cork base wads. No shot cup. And a paper over shot card wad, with a roll crimp. Plastic injection molding changed our world. By the article it appears an effective sleeve has been developed to protect barrels from abrasive hard shot. Have you noticed; hunting permit sales are declining nationwide. Game wardens are still busy chasing poachers. The price for participation in our sport is quickly becoming problematic for many.
