Grip-N-Pull (bullet puller pliers)
Does anyone has some experiences with the “Grip-N-Pull” (bullet pulling) pliers? The last couple months I see more and more about them at sites and gun/reloading magazines.
I do have some serious concerns if these pliers can handle the “heavy roll crimped” revolver rounds. In fact I doubt it if they are up to the task, but perhaps I’m mistaken.
Currently I use 4 systems, the RCBS and Hornady press mounted systems, the good old bullet puller hammer and the Davidson (Sinclair) pliers. These new Grip-N-Pull pliers are much like the Davidson. The drawback of the Davidson system is that if a is bullet seated with a stiff crimp it won’t work (the pliers have not enough grip). The huge plus of the Davidson pliers is that with regular/tapered seated bullets it works tremendously fast, simple and no fumbling or setting up for the correct collet.

The reason that I’m asking about it is that bullets seated with a heavy roll crimp are sometimes very hard to remove. I have experienced damaged bullets (walls and tips), ripped case walls, ripped bases and rims while the bullet is still at it’s place. And hammering them out is sometimes a waist of time and labour, when (bad) luck will have it one might damage the plastic in the process ...... I have heavy crimped .357 and .44 Magnum loads that won’t let go of the bullet no matter what, unless one fires it from a gun.
It’s for the first time that I see these bullet pulling pliers for pistol/revolver cartridges. They don’t come cheap (not even including the high international shipping costs) and before I again waist money on a system that can’t handle heavy crimped/seated bullets.
A couple days ago I send the man who produces these pliers an email about my concerns but as up today he did not replied me. I hope one of you have some experience with these pliers.
PJ.
