Well I screwed up yesterday evening. I got tired of the ads and the related topics crap so I jumped on the ad free button at the bottom of this site. They say it's $6.00 but it's actually $8.00. Well it worked for about 2 hours, some may have noticed some may not have. I didn't have all the settings set right. Anyway what I didn't know was it is only good for the month in which it is purchased. 7-1 rolled around and it expired. I sure got bent over..... I have been waiting on a reply from proboards but have my doubts about getting anywhere with my complaint but we'll see!

Dan, The ads would not be so bad if they related to our forum. But that would go against the prohibited content clause (the green high lighted line) If this was a set alone forum then it could attract it's own advertisement to show. You look at forums like AR15.com and you see ads related to it's members. For now I'm content to be here with my good friends. This forum has maid great strides and I'm sure it will continue to grow.

Is there a way to pay like 5 years in advance? If so, count me in. However, I do not mind advertising provided it is related to the stuff we talk about here ... guns and reloading stuff. I wonder if there is a way to get relevant advertising to display on this forum.

Ken, That would be nice but I think it would go against the Pro Boards content rules. Dan did post this and high lighted the line on firearms and ammo. Take a look and see.

There is a way to pay for continued ad removal. At the bottom of every page you can find the "Click here to remove banner ads from this forum." link Anyone can do it but it isn't a pay all at once it is a reoccurring monthly charge. I did it as a one time for one month not realizing it literally meant for the month the one time charge was applied. Here is a copy of the email I received from Proboards after I paid.

Since you paid on 30-June-2014 ... You paid for one-month of service and only got a few hours? If so, I would complain to proboards .. or just let this site have those banner ads.

They fixed it but said that is the way it works and not to buy at the end of the month. But if someone buys then I don't have to activate it untill we need it. I'm still going to work on the other site.

Well I found a way to block the ads on my computer anyway. I have posted many times that I hate ads popping up in between the boards on this forum. Most aren't even related to reloading or anything to do with this forum. Even if they did I find them intrusive and unwanted. I won't even watch TV if I can't fast forward thru the commercials. I despise their attempts to get me to buy things I don't want or need. Anyway I installed AdBlocker Plus as an extension to my Chrome browser. So far I'm impressed. During the installation I was able to allow and disallow what content is displayed. Now I don't get distracted when I'm researching various subjects. I'm not sure if it will work with other browsers but I'm sure there is something similar if you are annoyed by all the bullshit ads like I am. Ad Blocker Plus

Ad Blocker PlusI just installed it ... and immediately ... no pop up ads! I did the install. However; I was never asked what to allow or disallow. Maybe Firefox is a bit different?

The important thing is that the ads at least most of them are gone.

I have never had ads pop up on here but my computers both desk top and lap top have the program you are talking about added from the get go.
