This idea is not new but perhaps some have not used this technique? This method shows bronze wool wrapped around a bore brush. In this case, a .20 cal brush for a .357. Then a 1/4" strip of Birchwood Lead Removal cloth, about 4" long, is wrapped around the brush/wool combination. The brush is then passed through the bore. The lead removal cloth can be re-wrapped to use the clean side. Ed...

Okay, never seen before. Looks like it works and much easier than the Lewis system. Are these things decently priced?

PJ, The bore brush is the common type used to scrub barrels. I use a brush size a little smaller that the barrel size. For .357, I use a .20 cal brush. The bronze wool is a common hardware item and costs about $5 for 3 pads (should last for years). Don't USE STEEL WOOL! Get fine grade if you can. The lead removal cloth is $5 to $6 depending where it can be found. I use Birchwood and Tetra Gun cloths. The cloths are about 11x9 inches and a package is good for over 80 uses (assuming 1/4"x 4" strips). The cloths can be cut into standard patch sizes and wrapped around a brush or used with a standard jag. I like the bronze wool around a brush as it aids in some lead removal.
PS: The above pictures were taken after the revolver was thoroughly cleaned with Wipe-Out and Shooters-Choice.

I use a very cheap solution. It comprises of: 1. A little bit of a Chore Boy copper scrubbing pad 2. Shooter's Choice Lead remover3. An undersized jag You can buy a 12-pack of Chore boy here on Amazon for about $13 You snip a little bit of the Chore boy, apply the lead remover and push it down the bore ... breech end 1st of course. A few swipes of this stuff, and even the worst lead fouling will come out as little chunks out of the bore. The Chore Boy works just like the bronze wool. Plus, I can find it at my local grocery store.

Pj, Speaking from experience this method does work. I think this method works as well as the Lewis system but IMHO the Lewis is easier. The brass or bronze screen is harder to find than the Chore boy is.
