What does one what to look for in buying "pre-owned" pistols? I'm contemplating a Beretta M9 or a Sig 220. Ed...

Ed, I look at the bore and chamber area to see if any erosion or pitting. This tells me lots of rounds put through it or very neglected on taking care of it. Then is the springs in good shape like in the spring for the slide. Is it still stout. Also the appearance in is there a lot of holster wear or has it been neglected in care.

Also check the frame to slide fit. If it is sloppy it has probably been fired allot
