Well just here recently I have run into problems with my Lyman tumbler after a few hours it would stop vibrating. so I check on there site said problem and how to trouble shoot the problem. So I read and then I redid the shaft that holds the bowl. Well this work out for a couple days but then it went back to nothing again. Took it all apart and found that a weight that fit's on the shaft of the motor came off. OK I'll just tap it back on and ran some 38spl brass and was good. I then ran some .223 brass again after awhile no vibs but can hear the motor running. I see that the weight is off again. I am thinking (I know scary) about putting a dap of Locktite red not the blue but the red as my machanic friends use this to keep certain bolt from coming loose on heavy high RPM motors. Anybody else have an idea on how to keep the thing on the motor shaft?

Maybe Lyman can replace the tumbler for you? I have heard their tech support is pretty good.
Did you call or email Lyman?

Ken, I've had the tumbler for several years and works good but I have to tap the weight back on now and then. They do list the motors in their hand booklet. I just might just get a replacement motor in the future for when this one goes bad. There is no need to replace the whole tumbler. I am looking at options to do a fix for now and then work on getting a replacement motor.

Give me a place to stand and a long-enough lever, and I will invariably break the lever.

Hacker, is it a press fit ? How about a lead or brass shim to take up a little space ? Might at least extend the mean time between failures.

I used some JB weld on mine. Been working on small amounts of brass for years

Well today I put some Loctite on NOT the formula I want but can be used for some metals. Have to let it cure for 24 hours then I'll put it to the test cause I have quite a bit of brass to clean. So I'm hoping for good results. Dan the JB Weld is another option I'm thinking of if this doesn't work out.

Well the test was a bust. I put it to the test yesterday and it lasted for about five hours maybe a bit longer not quite sure. Again the weight for the shaft come off. Next is to get the Loctite red formula or the high heat JB Weld and try this next. I don't want to send this to Lyman if I don't have to cause I have quite a bit of brass to go through.

UPDATE: Well I got the Locktite the red formula and applied it to the weight and let it set for a day and a half. It states to let set for 24 hours so I extended it another 12 or so. This is good stuff I can pick up the whole base unit by the weight. So I put the bowl on and loaded it up with some brass and plugged it in and away it went. I'm thinking great I'm back in business yea right. It came crashing down after half an hour when the moter froze up. I'm waiting on a reply from Lyman to see about a replacement base/motor assembly.

Robster, They got back to me with a link to order another base/motor assembly. If you intend to send your's back I'll suggest just send the base/motor assembly back. To make for easier shipping you can remove the stem that holds the bowl in place. This way those two items will fit a smaller box. Wh at did they suggest how to ship it back?
