Well Sat. the 9th I again went with my son-in-law to the range he's a member of. We were to shoot his AR and his oldest boy's Mossberg 715 22lr. I had cleaned the action and the bolt on the semi and we were to see if it still had feed and ejecting problems. So we arrive and we go to the 50 yard tables and set up. There were two guy shooting Ruger 10/22's at the far right tables so we took the two to their left. My son-in-law was to my right with his AR then me with the 22 to test and three tables to my left two guys came and set up at the 100-200 yard tables. The farthest guy had a bolt gun in 30-06 and the other an AK format rifle. This gentleman was to my left but two tables between us. When he shot that AK holy crap did that thing throw the empties. Some landed in my range box. Now that's slinging empties and with quite a force behind them. My daughter then showed me where one of them landed or should I say got stuck. The tables have a roof over them with exposed lumber. That case got stuck in the over head roof support. Maybe I should look into taking along a helmet or hard hat and flak jacket.

Give me a place to stand and a long-enough lever, and I will invariably break the lever.

That's the biggest reason I avoid shooting near folks with AK's or AR's a hot piece of brass in the wrong spot would really piss me off ... Hot brass can in the end be a safety hazard not to mention a fight starter I have seen both. The couple public ranges require brass deflectors or catchers for these folks and the shooter has to provide them or they can not shoot.

Chuck, My son-in-law attaches a brass catcher to his AR when he shoot's his. Then gives them to me so I can reload them.
