What a day, 1 Sep was opening day for Goose, dove and tree rats. Had some boys over to camp out in the field, cooked some hotdogs but don’t know when they went to bed as I did not stay around for that (like my own bed when at home). Well started off with SunnyBuck and friends getting back to the house at 0520 and off we went. Meet up with Kenny and off to his friends house where we would be hunting today, only thing that really got to me was the fact that Kenny and I was set up under his friends porch and the boys only 25yds from his bedroom window in the garden! The geese was really gentlemen about it and started showing up about 20 min after shooting time, with that we got the host up!!! By time it was all said and done, 12 geese down for the count ( cost me less then 2 boxes of shells) and we only knocked one down that was not retrieved. By 1200 we had the birds breasted out and setting a Jackie’s for a late brunch and then off to the dove fields, that was a bust but everyone still had a great time and I hooked 2 more on quack!!!
Of the 3 boys, SunnyBuck was the only one that had killed any waterfowl before and now they 2 new boys (from my 4-H club) are looking forward to next Sunday. Will try to post some picks.
