I simply replied;
Unfortunately I can't sign the petition because It's one of those feel good policies that simply doesn't make any sense for a number reasons.
Panera's policy only applies to law abiding citizens who abide by it. It has absolutely no effect to a criminal, they will do as they choose. In fact criminals choose to commit their atrocities at locations where law abiding citizens are not permitted to have their legal firearm because there is no one around that could possibly stop them. Think about where the mentally ill do their shootings? And don't count on police because they are not here to protect you, it is not part of their general duty. In fact I don't believe "serve and protect" is even written on their cars any longer? They couldn't even if they tried. It is ultimately your responsibility to protect yourself. Police generally show up by the time a crime is over to take notes, draw outlines with chalk, and begin the investigation.
IMO people legally permitted to carry a firearm (concealed) should not be asked to leave their firearm in their unattended vehicle while they go in to order coffee.

My daughter came from Missouri, my son and grand son, my wife and I had a nice dinner of grilled "porter house" pork chops, corn on the cobb, my son, G'son and I share 10/5. G'son is 4 minutes early though @ 10/4.
