Well today is opening day of squirrel season. It has rained close to 2 inches since midnight last night and the temp is in the 70's. Since I won't ware a snorkel nor squirrel hunt from a canoe I will be sitting the season out for a bit yet. It is IMHO to early and still way to warm for hunting. Snakes have been bad this year on and around the areas I like to hunt. Bow season opens two weeks and again I will sit the beginning of season out for the same reasons as above plus the Dr. told me on Thursday not to strain my self as I still need time to heal inside. I know their are a lot of places that already have hunting seasons in full swing but for me I will wait for cooler weather and at least one good frost but that's just me. I don't like fighting skeeters, nats, ticks nor dodging snakes to hunt if I don't have too.

Chuck, those little "extras" are what keep you sharp. You don't want to just wander aimlessly around the woods just looking for a deer do you? Glad you're feelin' good!

LOL Bob I don't wander aimlessly I wander with a purpose what that purpose is I still haven't figured out though. Oh Bob did I mention I don't like to fight fleas either nor get a flea bath after skinning a critter at this time of year LOL.......

Give me a place to stand and a long-enough lever, and I will invariably break the lever.

Good to hear you are progressing with healing. Hope you mend well for future hunts. My early goose season is here and I’ve not started either because of the heat. My aggravation is when cleaning the birds outside and every yellow-jacket (hornet) in the area swarms in to take something back to its nest. If a stinging melee starts then that’s no fun.
I also enjoy getting out in the cool mornings and feel the warmth of the sunrise permeate this older body. For some reason not fully understood this morning transition holds a special place in my heart. Probably it signifies being alive to enjoy another hunt. The only plus side of getting older is having a little more patience knowing a special time will soon arrive.

Ed: There is another "plus" side to getting older. The seasons come sooner because the year is shorter!

Ed: There is another "plus" side to getting older. The seasons come sooner because the year is shorter! Hey Bob Please don’t remind me about time perception as we get older even though you are right. Another plus is certain foods that I didn’t enjoy when I was younger taste good now. The downside is knowing when to stop enjoying the consumption at a certain level to avoid a mass increase. Ed
