I was"cruising" through other forums and came across a rather interesting new type of chronograph. It is a Doppler radar instrument . It is either called LabRadar or produced by them,it measures velocity at up to 5 points from the muzzle to target. Have anyone else heard of this,it's not on the market yet.

Bob, For those that need to research this here is the link to the site that has this type of chronograph. One has to read over their site to get their info and I do believe that there is a YouTube video of this also. One has to look for it. mylabradar.com/

Hello Bob; Yes, I have heard of the Lab Radar. The technology is very sound. The price tag is a bit on the high side however. The best thing about the Lab Radar is that since it use ranging technology ... there is no need to worry about shooting out the sensors.

Ken, that has some appeal to me. My Chrony once had a near-death experience...
Edit several minutes later... Hey, I just googled this. When they become available, it looks like around $ 500.00, or the price of a brick of .22s ! Pretty amazing. The way technology runs, I bet they'll be half that by the time I finally finish off the Chrony ! Looks like a lot less hassle to set up-especially if you show up on one of those days other people have the nerve to want to use the range. Very interesting.

Well, after nearly 2 years since I first reported this product,LabRadar, I saw and actually got to shoot with one today. This was a huge mistake 'cause now I HAVE to get one. The owner set it up in the time it take to mount a spotting scope or camera an a tripod and he didn't have to go in front of the bench,it was not affected by shooters on either side of him and though I didn't use the downrange function it was also presumably accurate.

Bob, I was wondering about this the other day. If I have some time tonight, I'd like to see what has evolved over the last couple of years.

Pooh, I don't think mush has changed. If I remember right the price is about the same they just seem to be more available.

Guess what my birthday present was. Last year it was a Labrador this year it is a Labradar now all I have to do is figger it out! Just as with the dog I'll need some training to get this to work properly! I'll let you know how it goes.

Bob, if your family is looking to adopt... I'm looking forward to seeing how this works out for you, both at rifle and pistol applications. Of course, it may have to wait until I shoot my Chrony fatally, but....
