Antares Launch Failure. Uhhhh wasn't this a ATK project? I better check my manuals again...... reloading mistake? I see a rise in reloading components produced by ATK related companies coming up Never the less, sad to see the rocket blow up anyhow. PJ

Give me a place to stand and a long-enough lever, and I will invariably break the lever.

I glad no one was injured and very saddened by this failure. It was a major set back for this company I hope they recover with no job loses.

ATK and Orbital Science have not done the merger quite yet. In fact; ATK is now re-evaluating the merger at this point in time. My guess is that the merger will continue to move forward. The ATK - Orbital merger makes a lot of business sense, and the combined operations will become a lot stronger in the new "commercialization of space". Orbital Sciences stock, (ORB) got hammered, (down over 15%) as a result of this incident. ORBThe pieces will be collected up. The insurance will get paid out ... Things will continue on. The on going effort to commercialize space must and will continue.

It is way too bad but it wasn't the first and it probably won't be the last mishap, as Dan remarked glad no one was injured, physically any way.

Funny thing, they delayed the blast off the day before because somehow a boat was spotted in the Atlantic, down range from the launch. Officials were concerned with something going wrong. Maybe they knew something they aren't telling us?

I don't agree with that assessment. This has been a long standing safety measure. Any craft downrange will delay a launch.
