This is a serious question so please think it through before answering. What would you do about a city council member, county supervisor or what ever your county's "governing" body members are called, who made the statement "capitalism is taking us down the wrong path". I'm planning to ask our board to reprimand him at least, perhaps more not just sure yet. I am terribly upset by this as I think it reeks of socialism at best and it is no way for an elected person think let alone speak about in a public forum.

Bob, Capitalism to me is the free market. You are in business to make money and to provide a service that is good to the consumer and to also boost the economy. The person you mentioned wants it to be controlled by the government!! It is a proven fact that for the most part anytime that government sticks it's nose in something of the free enterprise it goes south and they can't understand why and they are the root cause of it. This person would agree with the O and Hillary as they stated starting with the O (You didn't build that) and Hillary stating that business and cooperation's don't create jobs!! So to me this person is for socialist or a commie mindset. These people need to be watched as to what they are doing and want to do. If you think that I'm off base then my apologizes.

Need to rally like minded people that would be against this to prove that this person would be the demise if their idea would go forward.

Mr. Bob,
Is there a "due process" procedure in your town/city/community to oust this idiot? Maybe you can start a petition and get people to sign it to remove this idiot from his duly appointed position. If you know someone who knows someone who knows someone in the DA's office, maybe you can get guidance from them? Maybe speak to a judge or attorney? I'm not sure of the population of your area, but possibly starting with someone in the legal chain might be a good start. Talk to someone on the council that is like-minded with you?
That's what I'm thinking for now...

Since this elected representative opposes Capitalism, point out his statement to local business owners. Small businessmen are true capitalist. Ask them to refuse to do business with Mr. Socialist. Don't serve him in the coffee shop. Refuse to sell him nails at the lumber yard or food at the grocery. Without Capitalist, he will starve.

If there is a recall process in your city I would start the ball rolling in that direction. If not I would gather as many people as I could to attend every city council meeting and give this guy/gal hell everytime he/she opened his/her mouth. I would let the other members of the council know that this anti America bull shit won't be tolerated. Basically shut him down!

Bob we had something kind of similar here from an elected STATE HOUSE SENATOR who is AGAINST COAL. Oh he ran on a pro coal support coal and coal jobs keep the state making big coal money. Once elected he voted against everything that the state tried to counter the FED EPA strangling the coal industry. He made a simple statement that "COAL WAS THE PAST AND NO LONGER USEFUL" He was recalled and ran out very quickly. His own party in the state senate started it rolling. In his home district and several of the surrounding districts he could get nothing no Gas, No camp supplies, No grub, No coffee nothing for a couple months. All those business owners told him since he was against coal he was against them.

Bob and I live in the bright blue socialist area of Northern California. This is an area where this "European Socialist" experiment is currently being attempted.
If you think this is not so bad ... then I urge you to re-read ANY of PJ's Posts from the Netherlands ... The entire "socialist experiment" is completely running amok over there in Europe!
I for one, will not stand for this. For fellows like me ... WE ARE the front lines on this on-going struggle for Liberty and Freedom! The way we shall win against this CREEPING EVIL CALLED SOCIALISM will be to stand for our values.
Freedom is NOT FREE! It is earned by the individual ... NOT by the STATE!
Liberty is not an anachronism. Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness is ingrained in our DNA.
I have found the following to work: 1. Never ever get into an isolated discussion with a Liberal. Always talk to them when there are fence sitters within listening distance. The hardened Liberal CAN NEVER BE SWAYED... The fence sitter can be swayed!
2. Do not use ad-hominem attacks. Always preach the virtues of Freedom, Liberty and show how collectivism is the antithesis of Freedom and Liberty
3. Send money to political organizations who support our cause! Groups like the NRA is a good start.
4. Get out and VOTE!
Again ... We here in California are on the front lines on this culture war. I WILL and I ALWAYS WILL ... I WILL STAND AND FIGHT!

Ken, If you read my OP you should realize I'm against any form of government other than a Democratic Republic which is what we were. We are still a capitalistic society at least for a while. I have voted in 101 of 102 elections missing the 2012 primary which was a forgone conclusion anyway. What would you do, realistically, if a Santa Clara Supervisor made the same comment? One more item which is a little hard to get across, think of your representatives whether City Council or U.S.Senator as being YOUR representative and NOT of being "their" constituent. We need to make them understand they are ours, to represent us at their governing body and to respond to our bidding. I realize we are a constituent(a member of a voting group) but we're not their's. As far as donating to political parties I told our central committee to EARN my support which they have not done. They are just playing a finger pointing, name calling game mean while the country is going down the tubes. I indicated, rather strongly, they have to get their heads out of their A## and get this country back too where it was.

Hello Bob; I can say this much for certain. The San Francisco Supervisors and City Council are on record with supporting collectivist policies!
