Hello Gary; Sarco has some P12 double stack frames for sale. I have a few of them. The idea was to practice on these low cost paperweights before moving on to the Tactical Machining stuff. The problem with the Sarco frames is the difficulty in finding P12 parts. From what I can gather finding Para Ordinance P12 parts to finish the thing is pretty difficult. Here in California; if you wish to build a custom pistol then you are in a serious difficult position. That is because the State of California has these laws prohibiting the importation of many hand guns and ALL pistol frames. This is because our dear politicians believe that pistol frames are unsafe. This law is also known as the handgun roster and is currently being challenged in the courts. Basically, if the pistol is not on the government mandated permission slip, you cannot purchase it here in California. 80% paper weights however cannot be regulated. The politicians are currently trying to pass laws making it illegal to do home builds. The last attempt got vetoed by the governor.

Ken, Looking at the Sarco's site yes to me they would be paper weights. That is not even close to being an 80%. I mean one would have to do a lot of mill work and sanding and polishing of the frame to get where you have somethig close to start building. But if one has the proper tooling and tools then they can do it. The two I showed I could get help with my machinist friends to start a build. Maybe some day I can do a build like this. I do like the 1911 format.

I bought a bunch of the Sarco castings to try my hand at building up a Commander type frame. This will be one of my future projects. What, with the new sporterized Mauser, fine tuning the 1022 build, re-crowning one of my older Mausers, and of course the Martini-Enfield ... I think I got a lot to keep me busy for at least the next several months! I have yet to purchase an AR blank. I also have a JD Machine stripped AR receiver that I need to build up too! So many projects ... so little time ... it is all good in my book!
