Has anyone had problems with "standard" large rifle primers (CCI 200, WLR, etc.)when used for the M1 Garrand? I have some concern about slam fires which I did not think about when I primed,only,160 cases using CCI 200s.

Give me a place to stand and a long-enough lever, and I will invariably break the lever.

Bob, I used a Garand in '06 and later rebarreled to 7.62, for a bunch of years (back when my hair was dark !) I used standard primers. One of the things to consider is that in the slow-fire phases, we were dumping a round in the chamber and closing the bolt on it, which is the classic scenario for a slam fire. I never encountered the problem, nor did anyone else around me. Now, I would keep my bolt face clean, and try a couple of primed and otherwise empty cases to see how much of a dent your firing pin makes on closing (they do tend to ride forward). There may be cause for concern, and I think CMP cautions on such things, but there's my experience, based on thousands of caps popped in an M1.

While I don't get to play with my M1 much anymore when I do load for it I use some left over CCI BR-2 primers. I use the BR-2 for most of my large rifle needs and have never had any issues. The BR-2 have the same hardness of cups and cci says they can be used in semi autos. I agree with pooh, keep it clean and try a few.
