Hey guys, I'm thinking of asking Santa for one of these for Christmas, and was wondering what your thoughts where on which one to buy. It seems the Chargemaster 1500 combo has the most features but also one hell of a price tag so of course that's the one I'm leaning towards, but i'd love to hear some opinions on this and the other brands as well.

The Chargemaster 1500 combo is a good one. Others you might want to look at are the ones from Lyman. They are the Gen5 and the Gen6. You would have to look at their features to see if they suit your needs.

I gave up on Lyman. I have had the gen 2, 3, and 4 and have had to send them all in for repair and in some cases more than once.. I have own the ChargeMaster 1500 for a couple of years and mine holds calibration. The Lymans have to be re-calibrated several times in 1 loading session. Not what I want to mess with while loading. While all electronic scales can be affected by fluorescent lights the Charge Master 1500 seem to be less susceptible than some of the other brands I have used.

I use the SmartReloader Sdi for about 3 years now, it was a Christmas gift from my wife. The machine works absolutely flawlessly and is in continuous use at a weekly basis. I’m aware that SmartReloader is not popular in the USA, for many unfounded and uninformed reasons in my opinion (see my “extensive” note below). But it’s worth to take a closer look for your self. Based on my personal experiences I can recommend it, it’s accurate, consistent, dependable and affordable. The American made powder dispensers are about the double or even triple the price over here in Europe than in the US, due to additional export and custom fees. And since 2013 the warranty on American electronics is no longer valid here as well! Companies like RCBS, Hornady, Pact and Lyman no longer provide customer service outside the US for these items. I can partly understand why they do so, the paperwork and shipment costs involved are tremendous. You see hardly any American electronic reloading equipment in gun stores these days here. What you see are mostly old stock items. So I’m glad to own the SmartReloader (Their HQ is based in Switzerland/Italy), this make eventual claims or repairs much easier for me and shipment costs are a fraction than to the USA. Note (who is SmartReloader): The SmartReloader Sdi is a full clone of the RCBS ChargeMaster and their products are made by the exact same manufacturers as used by RCBS, Hornady, Lee, Lyman and Frankfort Arsenal. For instance SmartReloader scales are 100% identical as those from Lyman and their vibrating tumblers are 100% identical as those from Lyman and Frankfort Arsenal. And their presses are made by Lee...... Just to name a couple examples. The company behind SmartReloader is the largest gun importer and exporter in Europe called ArmiSport (who is a member of the Beretta Arms Group) and the same goes for reloading equipment. Currently most European warranties and service claims of nearly all US made shooting sports related products are done by ArmiSport. The entire ATK related line of companies and products for sale in Europe are supported by them. Why should highly respectable US based companies do cooperate with them and accept copies of their products? Not because they want to damage their good reputation. And we are talking here only about reloading equipment, their list of imported US made guns is even more impressive, with names like Colt, Mossberg, Remington, Savage.... And their list of European guns & ammunition exported to the US & Canada is just as long. SmartReloader products are just made under private label. Underneath is in most cases a well known US brand and unfortunately made in China for the most part. Many perhaps remember my test (with the pictures to prove) at the former RCBS HUB when I opened and examined American reloading related electronics..... 9 out of the 11 tested products (circuit boards) were produced/assembled in China. That is by it self unfortunate but we can expect this.......... We don’t like to pay top Dollar for such items anymore. The bad news/reputation about SmartReloader is primarily caused by the former US importer in the past, he did not had the proper funds and experience to become a major dealer. He was way over in his head at the time. I’m not aware what the current situation is, what I do know is that companies like Cabela’s and MidSouthShootersSupply do business with SmartReloader at this time. PJ.

Hello Dan; Does this include the Lyman 1000 electronic scale? I have one of these, and it needs constant recalibration. Ken
