Noticed in wandering around that Lapua offers small primer .308 Win. brass called Palma. What is the advantage of small primer over large primer brass ?

better and more controlled flame front in the cartridge, resulting in more consistent ES and SD numbers, better accuracy. Same result s compared to small primers in 45acp.

Interesting...... I can see one disadvantage.... I have a hoard of the old big-primer brass in both calibers....and NONE of the small-primer stuff. Same with the primers that go in them. Don'tcha just love progress!?! Nuts!

While we are on the subject of primer size of large and small in the same cartridge. While looking for 6.8 Rem. SPC brass my son-in-law came across a source that has said brass once fired in small primer with the SSA head stamp and I know that Rem. brass is large primer. I don't know if SSA is the military brass or not? Since my son-in-law now has an AR in this caliber for me to work up loads for. Question is has anyone else find any other calibers out there with large and small primer sizes brass?

Gary I have both LP and SP Lapua brass. The small primer was originally 308 but I have them resized down to 7-08. I am not sure what other calibers you might find this in.
