Ok guys need some input if anyone that had used this powder. Years ago I tried this powder then it was XMP 5744 since they have dropped the XMP. I tried this in my 444 Marlin for jacketed loads and did not get the results that I was hoping for. This powder is listed for a lot of cast bullet loads at the time my Marlin had the Micro-Groove barrel and they recommended not to use cast bullets. So I gave the powder to a good friend and he used it in his single shot 45-70 using cast bullets and had very good results with it. So I'm thinking of getting some cast bullets for my single shot 30/30 and I'm thinking of trying this powder again. So I'm looking for any comments both good and bad.

Thanks GWS. I do have a couple of data sources. I am more interested in hearing reviews from others that have used this powder. As for me I did not have good results in the 444 Marlin with jacketed but my late friend had very good results in his 45-70 with cast.

Hacker, I also use 5744 for cast bullet 45-70 ammo. For cast bullet .30-30 I prefer Red Dot/Promo or Unique. I tried Trail Boss but went back to Promo. You may find the attached interesting. www.gmdr.com/lever/lowveldata.htm |

Thank you Mule. I found it interesting but it did center on CAS type shooting with about 1450 max on the fps. I'm looking at a deer load that will suffice out to 150 yards. I'm also looking at a velocity range of 1700 to 1900 fps. Also looking for accuracy in 1.5 inch or under for group size. Any way it would be a fun project.

Thanks I do have a copy of their manual and their updates on my computer. I am interested in others review of the powder other than mine and my late friend. There is a couple places around here that have it and I'm thinking of giving it another shot to see how it would perform.

My daughter came from Missouri, my son and grand son, my wife and I had a nice dinner of grilled "porter house" pork chops, corn on the cobb, my son, G'son and I share 10/5. G'son is 4 minutes early though @ 10/4.
