Ok, it's probably more fuss and bother than it's worth, but... has anyone tried the punch that used to be marketed by Forster to convert Dad's beer cans and Junior's toy caps into percussion caps for muzzle loaders ? Just curious what your experience is/was. It doesn't seem to be generally available these days.

Pooh, Looks like MidwayUSA sold it at one time but now is discontinued. Here is a link as to what it sold for and eight review comments for you to read. Might be able to try Amazon and E-Bay. This is one of those items that would popup at a gun show. I'll keep an eye out in my travels one just never knows what can be had at a show. I found a Lee mold that is no longer made at a show. OH and yard and garage sales to. OH here is that link. www.midwayusa.com/product/842064/forster-tap-o-cap-11-percusion-cap-maker

Thanks, Hacker, I caught that, as well as some comments in other forums. I tried eBay, gunbroker, and the Forster website as well.... My guess is that someone just a tad sharper than me with machine stuff (not hard !) would be able to put one together pretty readily. I was going to scout out the availability of caps-apparently the German ones are preferred-but the snow was blowing around to a point that I decided it could wait ! I wonder if any of our guys have done this ?

Hello Pooh; You need to check out Brushhippie's Youtube video. In this video, he mentions some fellow by the name of Kevin, in Oregon who makes the DIY percussion cap tool. Brushhippie has Kevin's email posted in this video.
