I actually regret meeting the young man that was with my oldest stepson on Saturday. I was fire forming some new Lapua LP brass for my BR4 experiment. My stepson and a friend showed up to punch paper and seeing as we have found a mutual respect for each other I said they could shoot. That's when the dumb shit started. The friend of my stepson commenced to bragging about his rifle and the special load he had worked up for it. When I asked what that load was he said "IT'S A SECRETE AND SUPER ACCURATE" I ignored his brag and went back to fire forming. Out of the corner of my eye while loading my rifle I thought I saw a muzzle sweep across my stepson's back not 100% sure that's what I saw I told the young man if he wasn't the one shooting he needed to leave his rifle sitting bolt out in its case or on the other bench. That got me a funny look but the kid complied. I went back to shooting a string when I thought I heard the 4wheeler start so I figured my stepson had it running so it would warm up. Big mistake when I noticed movement in my scope and saw this IDIOT starting down range while I was mid string. My stepson was even more shocked and pissed than I was. After stopping my string and getting said IDIOTS attention and him returning after he set up a 300yd target he was told to pack his shit and never come back. Just when I thought he couldn't get any more stupid he told me "I KNOW WHAT I AM DOING JUST RELAX MAN" which sent my blood pressure even more through the roof and the stepson stepped in and physically removed his friend and all his stuff. Once he left the stepson came back by for dinner and APPOLOGIZED for his friends actions. When I asked him why he took it upon himself to apologize for an IDIOT he said he felt responsible for his friends actions since he brought him over to which I used a statement we have used many times "YOU CAN'T CURE STUPID" I told him to let it go and we had a SCOTCH or 3 since he was staying to help me with a project yesterday and he wanted to see his mom.

You can always tell the know it alls that really don't know it all by their saying "I KNOW WHAT I'M DOING" I would advise your stepson that his friend could get him killed. A friend like that I would not have or want any of my relations to have. BTW Desmond&Duff is pretty good also.

So true Gary and I would hope that my stepson knows that. Since last year (The Boy Won't Listen) he and I have found a level of respect and trust we did not have before. He knows that the guy is an IDIOT now so he will avoid him I would think.
D&D is pretty fair Gary I am just partial to my JW Blue.....

*Two* ice cubes ! Careful not to drown the peat, lad. (Back before they cut off my liquor ration, I was rather fond of the occasional wee dram of Glenlivet.) Cheers !

The problem with folks like this is you must be ever vigilant. Being so takes a lot of energy. Either that ... or something bad usually happens.
It only takes one incident for the bad thing to completely ruin your life.
JW Blue is very good stuff.
I am more of a single malt guy myself.
I used to imbibe a fair amount of JW Blue in my younger days.

Pooh the cubes are rather small so I don't drown the peat. Ken I do enjoy a good single malt also say Lagavulin 16, Dalmore or Glenfiddich 12yr. JW Blue is just what I enjoy when I reach for a scotch.

My stepson just texted me to let me know I am a "FU--ING ASSHOLE AND PRCIK AND I CAN KEEP MY RANGE" this according to the IDIOT from Saturday. My guess is it was all my stepson could do not to loose his job.

Chuck-congratulations on the new title. You earned it by not tolerating unsafe practices. Good job. Now, if we can just get you to stop over-icing the Scotch... ok, maybe you're using those metric ice cubes !

Chuck, That would be one title that I would wear with HONOR!!!! As long as it helps to keep IDIOTS like that from the range and endangering other people. Now I haven't had Scotch in quite some time. I am more of a Bourbon man. Now I don't know if you are like me but depends on the mood if I'm using the single shot glass of the double shot glass. I use ice in less tempered moods.

OK guys; I moved the bottom part of this thread here. Even though we started going off-topic. In my opinion, the topic is still very good. I love the scotch, bourbon and other stuff. A shot or two with a very nice pipe or a cigar ... in my backyard ... and I am very good to go!

Its hard to keep everyone safe, you were right and as much as your step son's friend finds you unpleasant you may have saved his life.
