I come to you as a Lodge Brother who has fallen off the wagon. I had not spent money on a gun in many many months but have succumb to major temptations as of late. In January I found myself holding a new Ruger Mini 14 Rancher and could not think of ANY reason not to buy it. It just happened! Then some weeks back I was minding my own business at an on-line auction and saw a Ruger 44 Carbine of the same vintage I let get away from me many years ago. How was I to know my bid would be the winning bid? Well I just got back from a trip to my local gun shop and a WWII Springfield Garand in very nice condition was brought in on consignment. Long story, short . . . I bought it. The lady I am currently living with (same girl for last 46 ½ years) only commented she was glad there was room in the safe because we don’t have room for a bigger safe. Fellas . . I’m starting to wonder if I might have a problem.

I don't see any problem at all, it sounds like you have a great lady and should keep her around. I know I'd hate to have to train another one.

Hacker, I think it's time to fire up the coffee pot. I'm preheating the oven for a double batch. Looks like we're having a serious out break !

Pooh: It is more than serious it's pandemic! I too have fallen off the wagon as I told of buying the telescope sight only to find it attached to a rifle.

Hacker, we may have to go with the heavy duty stuff. Personally, I've been looking longingly at a CZ in .416 Rigby. No. There's no good reason for it....

Pooh, I guess I'll have to post the directions to the church so we can start the meetings back up. I'll get the coffee going and you might want to add to that batch sounds very serious. Snapshot, Looks like you have had a sudden onset of the wants and met it head on. You have a gracious lady there. Mine didn't say anything of my recent 1911 all though it was a late present from the son-in-law. Now need components to load for it. There is quite a few items out there that I would like to acquire. I am jealous of the M1 Garand that is one on my list of I have to have one!! Awesome rifle indeed. OK now for the church meetings. We meet on Thur. evenings. Oh I'm sorry the directions to the church. It is the third one on the left down the street to the right. See ya there!!!

Looks like I'm not alone here. It's just that some times a guy is minding his own business and gets blind sided by OPPORTUNITY!

Snap Shot you have a keeper. Now me personally I have 2 guns on order plus one off at Hart being rebarreled. A few weeks ago and yes Bob I am blaming you LOL I was minding my own business when Bob tempted me with a 325 WSM. At that time I had just ordered a Savage Hog Hunter in 338 Federal and changed my Hart order when Bam Bob got to me. Now I also have a Winchester Mod 70 Ultimate Shadow on order in 325 WSM so thanks Bob. PIER PRESSURE forced my hand on the 325 WSM . Like my woman said as long as we can afford it she doesn't mind besides she is currently looking at a chunk of property 3000+ acres in Wisconsin.
So all in all no you don't have a problem. Just don't try eating Pooh's cookies at the meeting till after you soak them in what Hacker call coffee ........

Shux guys, I can't relate to this craziness at all. I haven't bought a new firearm in what, 3 months? That's half a lifetime. I do feel sorry for you tho. A bigger gun safe is an issue at my house, I admit. No my safe won't hold anymore.....and it is a cause for just a little stress right now...working on it. I had an uncle (deceased for a couple of years) who remodeled his home to make space for his guns. He was a collector of commemoratives....now THAT is a sickness. When he died his wife called Cabelas and they sent 3 guys out to take inventory and make an offer. I think she got $300,000 and she got screwed. He even had rifles stashed between wall studs behind the living room couch......and the attic was full...........gun safe? What gun safe. Sick, Sick, Sick. Absolute true story. (and never had one stolen) ......I like most any kind of cookie.....

That 10 day wait is California's way of keeping me from running down to the LGS and buying a gun then running right out to rob a liquor store or shoot someone! The 10 days is time for careful planning .

I thought the "instant" background check did away with the wait.

JB, As Bob stated that is California's laws. Each state is different. I might look into this just to see how many there is. Well I did my checking and Ca. is the only one as per the source I looked at. Here in PA we use to have a wait period for handguns but with the check we don't. So here is a list with the main laws for each state with links to see all of that state's firearm laws. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_in_the_United_States_by_state

GWS, I have read of this before some months ago. Looks like the state of NY is in for some court battles. Looks as this is across the state.
