I want to thank the folks at Ruger Firearms for their excellent customer service! I sent my Ruger Blackhawk in 30 M1 carbine back for their remodeling that included the installation of a transfer bar. I have had this pistol for about 8 years. It had a Thompson Contender scope mounted and I decided I would get more use if I took the scope off and used plain iron sights. I tried to buy the sights from Ruger and they told me I needed to send it to them for the upgrade since it was part of their recall. It was manufactured in the late 60s early 70s. Last Friday I got a call from Ruger advising me that because the top had been tapped, they would not be able to refurbish it. They offered me a new one at a cost of $321.00. I told them I was not able to pay that money, so please return it. Monday morning they called me and told me they had a better offer. They would send me a brand new one, in the box, at no charge! Of course, I said yes! I have them my GS address and it's being ship there. Can't wait! I consider this to be great customer service! And I am eternally grateful to Ruger for doing this. Needless to say. I will always speak positively of their products and recommend them. I own several Ruger Firearms and I will continue to support them with my business. After all, they made me very happy.

I'm glad it worked out for you. They do have a great customer service program but that seems to be the case with most if not all firearms related companies!

Give me a place to stand and a long-enough lever, and I will invariably break the lever.

It wasn't that long ago that if you were in New Hampshire and had a problem with a Ruger product, you could go to Newport and they'd fix it on the spot. (Thompson Center, over in Rochester was like that, as well.) Times change, but Ruger is still great. I bought a used Security Six a few years back, and faxed over for a catalog and a quote on a couple of minor parts. Reply came by return mail, and no charge for the parts.
I met the CEO a few years back. Had no idea who he was, but I was pretty vocal about Ruger's customer service (positive !) I only found out who he was after he left. He was listening. I was pretty impressed by that. I think Ruger's a class act, and your experience confirms that.
