I scored today . Made my weekly trek to the LGS and there low and behold was an RCBS 304 triple beam(oops Dial a Matic with 2 beams and a dial poise) sitting in his display case. Well as I walked out of the shop it some how escaped the confines of the glass case and jumped into my truck and came home with me and jumped right up on to my loading bench. As I've said before customer loyalty pays. < $100

Give me a place to stand and a long-enough lever, and I will invariably break the lever.

Bob, it's nice when a stray adopts you. My digital scale is faster, but sometimes there's no substitute for the balance. I check them against each other frequently, and...they tell the same story. (Hopefully, not a conspiracy on their part !)

Bob, Score-Steal-Apprehend-Commander or whatever you want to call it you did very well at that price. Digitals are great as long as you got the power source but when ya don't nothing like a good beam scale to have on the bench.

Gary, I recently purchased a digital Lyman which meets the criteria +/- 0.1 gr. I now have 3 beam scales and have been playing with them and the digital. Tests with 2 known value weights and testing with bullets and loaded cartridges supported my feelings about digital. The 3 beam scales all agreed on values, say 250.0 grs. the digital showed 249.9, 250.0 and 250.1 with the same weight. This is within the +/- parameter but is 0.2 grs different. Each weighing resulted in the same spread. Later I'm going to see just when the digital goes from say 10.0 to 10.1. these numbers are relatively insignificant over all but I like it when something says 10.1 that is infact the value. My digital is plugged into the wall outlet and I do have the batteries for it so I shouldn't run out of power and I really like it for its direct readout not having to play around to get the weight.

Ok I will admit my ignorance on this one had to google it to see what it was. Then found several on ebay all over $150 and one was listed at $275 so Bob I guess you did score.

:oBob, I do remember seeing a picture of that scale once. I've never seen one in person, nor has it been on my want list. Was it sold before my time? I started this hobby in 1972.......looks really nice......probably ought to be on my want list....I'm wondering how I managed to totally miss such a nice looking scale! Good catch! Wonder what they sold for new? My funds were a lot more limited then....that probably accounts for it. I had a 502 then...a 10-10 for the last 20 years.

Greg, I don't know when they were sold. I found out about them by accident several years ago and wanted one but felt they were to expensive compared with the 10-10 for any gain in accuracy. My first scale, bought in'62 is a Lyman/Ohaus M5 which I bought used. I still use this scale also a 10-10 which is now decades old and still accurate. My gun store owner simply me a deal I could not refuse. I don't know if they are more accurate than a 10-10 ,which they are supposed to be, but it seems faster and considerably easier to set values.
Chuck, I"ve been watching them on the internet for quite sometime and as you noted $ 150 seems to be the low, $ 325 is the highest I've found.
