Since I now have 4 scales 1 electronic and 3 balance beam I want to get rid of 1 . It won't be the 304 that leaves a 53 + yrs. old Lyman Ohaus M 5 and the RCBS 10-10 both work perfectly which would yo get rid of? The Lyman has sentimental value the RCBS is newer and has the lockable rotary gr/0.1 poise.

Bob, Flip a coin. Best two out of three or you could use the "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe" method. Hey either way tough decision.

The Lyman M5 Ohaus and RCBS 10-10 appear to be the same scale. I would keep the RCBS 10-10 because of their superior customer support. Here is a very good article on How to Pimp Your RCBS 10-10

Give me a place to stand and a long-enough lever, and I will invariably break the lever.

Bob, I'm such hoarder that I'd keep both. I guess my take is that I'd see which one had the most useful mileage left and hang on to it. The article about tuning the 10-10 is interesting, Ken.

Ken, that is an interesting link thank you. Turns out my 10-10 already responds to 1 kernel of H4831.
Pooh, I have given that some thought as well!
Gary, I already flipped the coin and it came down on its edge that's why I have the dilemma.

Well its been just 3 months since the "Dilemma" and the 10-10 stayed the M5 went to a new home. More importantly that RCBS (Ohaus) 304 beam scale is by far the fastest, easiest to use scale I have used. Accuracy is,as expected, excellent sensitivity and response is excellent. I don't know how it dampens so quickly yet is so sensitive. With the dial which reads to 0.10 gr. one can easily and repeatedly interpolate to 0.05 gr.and with much care finer weights. The other nice feature is the pointer is higher off the bench and easier to see. The one down side is it is much larger than the 10-10.
