I have been fortunate to have lived in many places in my life coastal and mountain. I have seen first hand the wonders and beauty of Mother Nature simple things to most people purple mountain sun sets, bright firey red-orange coastal sun set as the sun and water seem to merge, crystal clear lakes and streams teeming with life, old cypress swamps and to many other things to list here. Like most things their is a flip side of that coin. Mother Nature had a very dark side indeed hurricanes, tornados, droughts, earth quakes, blizzards and flooding.
I thought after seeing what Sandy did to this state I knew what bad was. I was wrong the rain finally stopped here late Weds so it has been 2 days and some of the water has receded. That is when the true power of water was revealed roads washed out, rock falls, mud slides, uprooted trees, flooded crop fields. I bitched a little earlier this week about my garden and food plots WELL BOOO HOOO for me neither of those mean a DAM thing. This state will loose about 50% of its commercial AG crops, the average garden here is grow to supply a years worth of veggies for families loss about 50% again. The commercial livestock market here will suffer as well not to mention all the businesses, schools and homes damaged by water.
As I looked out the kitchen window this morning I saw a lot of water and mud and thought well this really didn't cost me anything. I thought about a couple friends I have out west and thought well they are the ones in trouble. Rain is a fickle mistress to much is as bad as none at all. So yeah I BITCHED OVER NOTHING. The west is drying up and I bitched over to much rain. The west is in dire need of rain and I bitched over it raining to much here. I have a new found respect for Mother Nature and her liquid gold.
