Well as you can see from the photo below it was a very nice and sunny day at the range. This was the same day I fired the cast loads from my 7-08. The young lady is my oldest daughter Renee. She is firing her Marlin in 30/30 Win (Alex got her a used one) that she has named Thunder. Yep she named her rifle. Those of you that remember from the old house Cole of Rifleworx named some of his personal builds. Like his 6.5 Creedmoor was Sweet Pea and he had a 300 Win. Mag called Thor. My friend and best man at my wedding still has Baby his Colt snub Air Crewmen I believe in 38 spl. So has any one here ever named a favorite firearm??

I am guilty of this Gary my 700 SPS Varmint 7-08 is named The Reaper my nephew did it and it has stuck now everyone calls it that when they see it. Their is one rifle I had that I named myself that was the 257 Rob I got from my grandpaw. I named it Pop-Eye because the first time I shot it that's what it did yup eye to close to the scope and it bit me.

Yep guilty as well, but only for one gun/rifle that I own. Thats for my .45-120 Sharps, I called him: "Ouwe Zeur" that's Dutch for "Grumpy Old Man". This rifle caused all sorts of headaches over the years when it comes to decent shot placements. This particular picture was taken this morning at the 300 meters range. A nice group, but 3 unexplainable fliers (note: shots fired standing, not sitting or on a rest). By the way this is one of my best loads a with the huge 650gr bullet on top of 100gr 1F black powder and in between a "grease cookie". For all you guys out there who like classic guns, you might know the famous writer/author Mike Venturino. He helped me out with this load, that man has a wealth of knowledge, just awesome. Before I could not hit the broadside of a barn with these 650gr bullets, after assistance from Mike I did not have more significant troubles. But so now and then the "grumpy old man" will have it his way, like today. PJ

PJ, you're just trying to make Quigley in the movie "Quigley Down Under" look bad! Regardless of the "flyers" that good shooting.

PJ, As Bob stated that is good shooting at the 300 meter range. With an aperture sight I would be happy with a group like that at the 100 meter range shooting freehand.
