Dan, What Bob said. Looks like a lot of fun. Awesome videos and the one from your drone was beautiful scenery. You did mention on another thread that you have been doing some bow fishing. What for species are you taking with the bow?

Gary, Earlier in the year we were on the Blue Tilapia. We were getting them several hundred pounds a night. Good eating if you like Tilapia. Now that the water in the marsh is up they have all moved to deep water. All we are getting now is the trash fish, Carp and Gar. Not good to eat in my opinion but awesome for practicing.

Dan ~ Looks great and as the guys said like a lot of fun. I've heard there is very little draft on those machines, exactly how much water do you have to have to run? ~ Larry

What do you do with all that Tilapia? Sounds like too much to eat,at least at one sitting! What recipe are you loading to shoot the fish ?

Most airboats in Florida draft 5 to 8 inches of water. The cool thing is most have enough power, water is not required. Watch this first video and at 4:32 you will see we are running on dry land. Yesterday we decided to make a run to a lake many of us have not been to in years. The trail was dry and almost 2 miles long. Everyone made it to the lake and back, no water inbetween. The tilapia, well we eat allot of it but what we can't eat is given to homeless shelters and churches. As far as the recipe, a bow and a fishing arrow with retrieval reel. Lots of practice and some kind of pain medication for use after a long night of drawing the bow. LOL

Looks like a hoot! Don't know Tilapia. I know Gar have teeth.....I don't suppose you guys dangle your feet over the side a lot? I was in Louisiana for a season. Seen Alligator Gar 8' long. Never knew whether they ever attacked swimmers or not. I saw a family of blacks in Louisiana filleting a big Gar. I never had any offered me. I don't like Water Moccasins. At least Rattlers where I live warn you. And you think we believe you when you say you are going to retire and move west? I think you are having way too much dang fun, where you are! I don't think your motor home will be fun hauling a big airboat behind all year! BTW, I saw an airboat like yours here in town last week at a filling station......was wondering where they were going to go to use it in this country! I doubt the San Juan Quality Waters: www.flyfishingfrenzy.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/san_juan_rd-small1.jpgCertainly the scenery is different....and our fish a smaller.... no 8'ers. The next picture is more everyday catch there........prettier fish are smaller as you can see. www.fisheadsofthesanjuan.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/DSC032413.jpgMaybe they went to Lakes Havasu or Powell in Arizona. Looks like lots of fun, Dangun.

Nice I could airboat there. The 8' gar are of no concern but the 8' and bigger alligators are, well at least at night. We have some monster Large mouth Bass here too but they aren't supposed to be shot with a bow. As far as moving out west....well it could still happen but it probably won't happen until I get tired of airboats. I really did plan on it. I bought a jeep rubicon all ready for the terrain out there but it works good here too. LOL. I'll be out that way someday.

Man that sure is fun. There is a few up here that have airboats and run them on the river but it looks way more fun in your neck of the woods.

BOB, In that last video Rosario is learning to drive the airboat. I had her keep it in shallow water and under 35mph as shown on the GPS. I think she had it at 25 mph most of the time. Shallow hull boats like mine are easy to swamp if you don't know how to make the turns. Gary, Running the rivers can be fun but I like the marsh. The marsh gives you much more area to run on. As you see in the video Rosario is following the trails but when I'm running I make my own. LOL I like going where others haven't been yet. Oh yeah a GPS is a must if you want to get home by dark and to be able to tell others where you are if you break down.

Dan, Have you come across one of those Burmese Pythons yet? Seems to me they would be a bigger worry than the 'gators.

Bob, Yes I have killed several but the majority of them are farther south. They aren't nearly as aggressive as the gators.

Those thing might be less aggressive than the gators but they take gators and deer and what ever they want. In any case you can have both .

Dan, when you're towing these things is windmilling or drag a problem ? (I assume you don't have a variable pitch prop on them, not that you couldn't rig that up !) Just an odd detail that has been goofing with my brain the last few minutes.

Pooh, No problem with drag, not as much as pulling and enclosed trailer. Windmilling? No I have never seen one windmill while being towed. Of course this varies depending and the aircraft motor on the boat but most would have to be towed at over 100 mph to get the to windmill.

What about have the engine at medium idle to give the truck better gas mileage?

Dan, Awesome job on the boat. BTW what happened to the green one you built a while back? Did you sell that one to build this one? Looks like you could go into the custom build business.

The green boat is hangared right next to this one but as of today it is for sale. I will start on the next one when it sells. I'll be going for 600HP on the next one. I have had a couple of people ask me to build them a boat, I said no but I will help them build their own. Right now building airboats is fun but if I turn it into a business then the fun goes away.
