Looks lonely. I feel for you guys, but it's sure better than nothing. Even so you are probably shooting more than I am right now. Just too busy making a living, right now. Retirement (government's permission to become a pauper) keeps enticing me, but if I did I'd have to get a job to support the shooting I finally will have time for. Catch-22, I'm afraid.
Good luck with your "enticements" to gain members!

PJ, Thanks for sharing my friend. As GWS stated looks lonely and see why your club put out the video to attract new members. I should be hearing from a club soon on my membership. This club has bowling pin matches and I would like to try that out. Any way I pray for you and your fellow members to continue to have and promote the shooting sports.

The video is made to show/demonstrate what the different disciplines look like. Only the "best" shooters were willing to participate. And many are afraid to be seen on a gun range (out of fear being recognized out on the streets to be a gun owner). Normally the range is full/packed with shooters.
Shooting on other targets (like bowling pins) is strictly prohibited, this might cause severe repercussions from the justice department. So what you see is what is allowed.......

Yep, I had to remove it. The Dutch government indeed found out that this video was "to much promotional" to their likings. My Internet account was partial blocked until I removed it. Than I received a written warning to make sure that it this was a (slight) step to far. The government does not want an increase of new (potential) gun owners.
By the way, our promotional day at the gun club gave us 16 new members (all not yet gun owners) and 3 new youth members. All now are up for a full back ground check by the Police and Secret Service. If they all pass we are pleased to welcome them.
The entire day we had 73 visitors that took the effort to sign up for that day. They had to fill out a special form that had to be send to the government for a pre-check. Most others fear that their name might pop up in the systems as a potential gun owner, and eventually stay away.
The police had send 2 officers to check on us and also took notes and pictures of the cars at the parking lot who visited us during the day. Plus they did ID checks on certain persons that were visiting us (mostly men between 18 and 60 years of age). There was a great effort on their side to scare away new/potential gun owners.
If you are not a member of a gun club and passed (yet) the back ground check you can not even hold a gun in your hands. Not even on promotional days like these, so the police went to see on the ranges if there was unlawful usage of handling a gun. They were in for a surprise, we only gave demonstrations and the visitors could only look.
Looking back we had a great day and the government/police were unsuccessful in chasing potential gun owners away that actually took the effort to visit us. Then it comes to Dutch standards we were above average in promoting our club and the shooting sport. Most clubs would be happy if they have 3 to 5 new members.
There is also much going on right now with new (anti) gun laws. * The purchase and owner ship of more than 2 magazines per gun is prohibited. Any future purchase of a magazine is now regulated and need a special permit/form. Replacing a magazine is now a 2 month paper work affair. * Hunting for trophies is now illegal (inside and outside the Netherlands) / Thanks to the famous dentist and Melissa Bachmann, those two a the worst kind of people according to the Dutch anti hunting lobby. They succeeded in turning this into a law now, the minimum jail time is 3 years for that and a fine over €200,000.-- * Hunting for any game (mostly water fowl) is now banned unless you have a special (new) permit that limits your amount. * Hunting (killing) on pest animals (like rats) is banned (or is now regulated by designated pest control companies)
We see a new trend: More women like to hunt, this worries the government so much that the costs for insurance and gun permits has doubled. If even women like to hunt, than we have a huge problem. These women only want a 12gauge for protection not for bringing food on the table, the government see a huge problem in that. We all know much better................
This is bad as it gets these days.

PJ, Thank you for the update on the situation. I did send you a private e-mail asking about this. I am wandering what your government will do when the invaders start to wreck havoc in your country. On a side note this past Monday the 26 I received in the mail my membership card to a local range that I should have joined years ago. Besides myself my son-in-law and my good friend and hunting buddy also joined. Now this club did background checks on us and we had no problems. Besides I know the current president of the club and have known him for years. Also members can hunt on the club property. It was a win win for us.

PJ,
I recently read that citizens of western europe are trying to arm themselves in anticipation of problems resulting from the refugee invasion from the east. One article said that Austrian gun stores are "sold out".
Are you seeing a bit of nervousness in your community? Are more people asking about obtaining firearms for self protection?

I’m afraid that it’s the greatest misconception or misinformed news you have read. Unless you mean “Eastern” Europe when it comes to sold out gun stores.
Now Austria is indeed in-between all the misery and yes current gun owners (already permit holders) do buy extra guns (mainly hunting rifles). Because they are afraid that the Austrian Government is to intervene pretty soon for stricter laws (to prevent gun stores to sell illegally guns to the refugees). That’s just a bizarre excuse, just a measure to tighten the Austrian gun laws. This debate was going on way before (4-5 years ago) the refugee problems in Austria but the Austrian government is now using this as an excuse. And yes, in the former East-Block countries the gun sales are up beyond believe, countries like Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria have the most liberal gun ownership. But only Hungary has (rightfully so) the most trouble with the refugees. Gun stores there are sold out even black powder rifles are sold now for self-protection (allowed in Hungary).
The following countries all need special gun owning permits: Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, France and Belgium. To go to a gun store and just buy a gun is totally out of the question, plus in these countries owning a gun for self-defence is also nearly everywhere strictly prohibited. Using a gun in a self defence situation in these countries get you in very deep trouble.
So sold out gun stores in Western Europe is a huge misconception. In-fact is the apposite because it’s hard to buy a gun and many need to sell their guns due to stricter laws most gun stores do have a surplus of (used) guns. In these countries gun stores export their guns to Eastern Europe to decrease their stock.
In countries like Italy, Greece, Balkan countries, the Baltic States, Spain, Portugal they have a bit less strict gun laws and guns can be bought pretty easily. And the UK is the worst country to buy and own guns, only certain rifles and shotguns are allowed and most certainly not to be used for self-defence.
Yes, the unrest is at an all time high now and tensions are rising by the day, especially in Hungary, Germany, Denmark and the Netherlands. People are sick and tired what is going on, not always for the correct arguments I have to add (= my personal opinion). In my town we do have now about 2000 refugees. And a very small village (normal population of 110) called “Oranje” about 12Km near me has now over 700 refugees. This small village made international headlines (was even on CNN) because they kicked out a member of the Dutch parliament out of their village and an elderly lady was nearly run over by this car when he hastily left that village.
Obtaining a gun for self defence is out of the question, for instance in the Netherlands the waiting period is now 1,5 years (if you get a permit in the first place). The introduction day we had at my club is therefor highly scrutinised by the police to prevent that new members like to sign up. You need to sign up at a gun club “before” you can apply for the 1,5 year waiting period. And after that 1,5 year period your first gun is “always” a .22LR Bolt Action rifle or a .22LR Olympic style sporting pistol/revolver.
Many countries in Western Europe have very similar laws when comes to self-defence and waiting periods, although not as strict as in the UK, England and Germany/Denmark and Norway. Every time when there is a “shoot out” or some civil unrest these governments implement new and stricter (anti) gun laws. Even when they happen in other countries like the USA. Most European countries refer to the shoot outs and civil uprising in the USA why we all should end gun ownership altogether as soon as possible.
Having this problem with the refugees as well, some of them are not actually refugees but terrorists, is us (gun owners) not helping either.
