Hello, members, I am an old reloader, and getting older, I finally decided it was time to get a scope. but I am new to scopes and mounts. I have a (leapers mnt-mn tro01) UTG (tactical tri-rail) mount I put on my 7.62x54 rifle. Doing research I have found that there are a variety of rings and mounts. I need to elevate my scope up a little higher, so that the front part of the scope will not touch the front part of the rail so I can bring the scope back, so I can get closer to the scope. . (as in use the whole scope, instead of looking through a a hole the size of a dime. Its a 1 inch scope (with 1 inch) , My question is: Which scope ring mount is compatible with the tactical UTG tri-rail mount? Do I Use leaper, weaver, or another name brand, and witch ring mount will be high enough for the front part of the scope, not to touch the rail mount. I need to have the right parts for this to work and mount correctly. Being new to just using a scope, (this is the place I Trust to ask, so I am open and welcome all Comments. So take care And as always, happy reloading from a fellow reloader...........

I have no knowledge or information about your gun or rail system, however what I would do is measure your present mount which is too short, from base to inside of the bottom of the ring, then either go online and look for the same make mount but taller or call the manufacturer and get a taller version, or try a different brand. 1 " scopes are very common and any name brand ie; Weaver, Leopold, or Burris to name a few will be good. Good Luck!

merdoc357, I am guessing that your rifle is a Mosin Nagant yes/no? Searching online to find a photo of your rail mount so I can see what it looks like. As with most rail mounts a Weaver style ring should work out ok for you. With a rail mount you can customise where you put the rings to fit your needs. On the height of the ring you would need rings that are high enough to facilitate a good sight picture when shouldered. Also you want the rings high enough so that the objective bell clears what is beneath it.
