As most of you all know the 7mm08 is my all time favorite round bar none. It has with just one exception always been very easy to load for and more than accurate enough considering who was pulling the trigger. I have a few contenders for my Hart Barreled rifle for a deer load. All loads are 160gr Speer BTSP's FED 210M primers. Contender #1 is IMR4350 @ 45.5gr best 5 shot group .802 @ 100yds chrono said 10 shot string ave was 2733fps with an SD of 9 and an ES of 14. Contender #2 is IMR 4551 @ 43.7gr best 5 shot group .779 @ 100yds chrono said 10 shot string ave was 2701fps with an SD of 11 and an ES of 17. Contender #3 is Hodgdon 100V @ 44.7gr best 5 shot group .805 @ 100yds chrono said 10 shot string ave 2754fps with an SD of 10 and an ES of 16. I planned on trying 760/414 or IMR4064 and 4166 but I doubt it after these results. My plan for this year is to make my 7RM my primary carry rifle and take my 7-08 for tree stand duty. I have a handful of places were I can stretch either out to 500yds if I chose but I self limit to 400yds max and then only in perfect condition which never happen in the mountains in November.

Chuck, since velocities and groups are so similar any one will be good. If you have time try 140 gr. Sierra GKs with the H414 that is my 7X57 combination with CCI 200 primers, you should probably try a Magnum primer though. 2,950 and 3/4" to 7/8" and 50 deer out to 220 yds,

Bob I have used that combo before and have no complaints with it. I have an abundance of the Speer 160 BTSP's and really like that bullet. I have used the Speers on and off for the last few years. They also tend to buck the wind better on power line right of ways and some of the bigger fields I hunt around. As an added bonus they make things stop in a real hurry as I tend when ever I can to shoot high shoulder shots and if conditions are right neck shots.
I do have one thing to clear up since my fingers tend to have a mind of their own they were standard Fed 210 primers not 210M primers.

Chuck, I have one question for you. Since your loads are all so similar, which of the loads you mentioned do you have the most all around confidence in? That is the load to use.

Bob the 4551 and 100V are newish powders for me. I have done a little bit of work with both and 4350 is a powder I have used a good bit of in the past. With all that said leaning toward the 100V load. I doubt I could go very wrong with any of these loads but if the chance to stretch a shot out to the 350-400yd mark pops up the 100V carries a little extra umph at the other end. But then again if I am not in a tree stand I will be packing my 7RM loaded with either 160 BTSP Speers or 150 GK Sierras and 7977.
Bob as a side note I might try me 150gr Sie GK's in this rifle too. I have started using heavier for caliber bullets the last couple years.
