Ok so I got my XPR back finally after being assured by BROWNING it would be completely fixed. This morning I called both WINCHESTER and BROWNING and got 2 completely different stories. WINCHESTER flat out told me the recall repair was not done before the rifle was shipped back to me. BROWNING on the other hand told me it was and when I asked for proof the man told me he had to call me back. I just got off the phone with them and turns out WINCHESTER was right the rifle isn't fixed. Whe I questioned the BROWNING service rep he admitted that 4 other rifles were shipped prior to be fixed for the recall. This makes me wonder what else BROWNING had lied to me and other customer about not just in regard to this recall but other things.

A very nice woman named Jackie from BROWNING called me a bit ago and basically fell on the sword for BROWNING. I got the rifle "SLIPPED THROUGH THE CRACKS" but with a safety recall their really shouldn't be any cracks. I was also told "I HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT ALL ITEMS HAVE RECALLS" which I do understand. I have a Remington that would be part of their Mod 700 recall if I had not already had the trigger changed, I have sent Thompson Center every rifle of theirs I have ever bought back because of recalls. What she doesn't understand is they FLAT LIED and this might be selfish "BUT SORRY IT SLIPPED THROUGH THE CRACKS" doesn't work with me at all. Oh and one more thing she said mine was the only one that "WAS SHIPPED" the service center told me their were 4. So now I really feel lied to.

Chuck, From your post here it looks to me as if they have people that pass the buck on to someone else so they don't have to answer for it and people that haven't a clue on what's going on and what to do and a lot of these kind of folks are running the business's. It is today's culture push it out the door worry about any problems when we cross that bridge and people that don't care and to take responsibility. I see this more and more today with the younger generation taking over the reigns. Hope they get someone with the right thinking to get this corrected for you.

Guys , what do you expect when our very own government has a "What difference does it make, get over it" attitude with human lives. Average people, especially those lower in the pecking order working for a large company, see this so why should they care? Corporate allegiance is no longer there in either direction so why try harder.

I am fortunate in that the Browning Repair facility is only a 30 minute drive from my home. I have asked them to repair several guns. I have never waited more than 10 days for the work to be completed. I have never had to ask for a do over.
I have had equally good experience with S&W and Ruger. European American Armory....fast turn around, unsatisfactory results.
I have seen folks carry in both Winchester and Browning guns and repairs were made on the spot.
I hope they take care of you, as I know they can and should.

Ok so the rifle is ready to ship back but their shipping package has yet to arrive. A quick call to Winchester's recall line will fix that as they seem to be the only folks working their that do not have a shitty attitude or the heads up their collective asses. I can say this their is a lady at Winchester named Angie that has been very honest and helpful. I will ship the rifle back but BROWNING SERVICE CENTER will not like the demand I am attaching to the rifle.
1) DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHIC PROOF THE RIFLE WAS FIXED AS THEIR WORD MEANS NOTHING TO ME 2) A HAND WRITTEN SIGNED LETTER OF APPOLOGY FROM THE HEAD OF THE SERVICE CENTER (WHICH IF RECIEVED I WILL POST) 3) OR WITH OUT BOTH OF THOSE I WANT A NEW RIFLE FROM OUTSIDE THE SN#'S INVOLVED IN THE RECALL
Barring me getting those they can keep the dam rifle.

That is absurd !!! Very sorry to hear of this kind of treatment especially from a firearms company. You will not find me buying a Browning anytime soon.

It's one thing to shoot yourself in the foot (metaphorically speaking), and quite another to empty the magazine, reload, and resume firing. My observation is that if you goof, and own up to it and try to make it good, people will work with you. It's when you compound the error there's trouble. Too bad about Browning. If you've got this all documented, how about sending copies to the CEO ? Never know what you can stir up. (Be sure to mention the good people involved in the process, as well.)

Pooh I have dates and times for every call along with who I talked to as well as all my emails saved. I did call Winchester today instead of Browning and a very nice lady named Christy was very helpful so I now know that my rifle is due to be repaired sometime right after X-Mass which is fine and all I was looking for.

I agree with Pooh an email and a phone call to as high up the ladder as you can get may stir the pot. Perhaps with the Winchester folks as well. I truely hope this works out!

7, I know your immediate situation appears to be on track, but if I had the kind of stuff you've described going on, I'd want to know about it. The kind of documentation you have would be really helpful as well. One time, a colleague had a troublesome receptionist, and one day I suggested to him that he call his office. He later thanked me, as it gave him a chance to bring the young lady into the program. She later left for more money, but what the heck... In any event, you can also mention the good ones, as well.

Funny thing Pooh and Bob I didn't have to go up the ladder Christy did it for me. She reviewed what happened with my rifle from the start till yesterday and had me on a conference call about 3:00 this afternoon. The call was attended by her, Jackie, the head guy in customer service missed his name and the head of HR from the building Amanda I think. I was assured this was not the way they do business and that things would be made right. I was offered some freebies which I turned down. All I really want is my rifle back and proof it was fixed.

Chuck, Glad to see that you are finally getting somewhere on this issue. I do hope you get the proof that it is fixed and hold them to it. Keep at them and let us know how things work out.

I would have be surprised if it DIDN'T end this way. Somebody screwed up....heads will roll. Browning didn't get their high reputation by screwing customers. Good for you.....and Christy of course!

Sorry guys a little tardy with this update. I did get my rifle back on January 29th with as crazy busy as I have been it kind of slipped my mind. I did get the proof I wanted that this rifle was fixed thanks to Christy. I also received for my troubles 2 boxes of Winchester Deer Season ammo, a Winchester hat, a gun case and an apology letter from Jackie. I called and thanked Jackie for all her help on February 1st. I also emailed Winchester Corp Office and told them how helpful she was with all of this.

A happy ending to a log dreary story. Hats off to you Chuck for your class act in thanking those involved to make matters right and telling the top brass who they can rely on.

I was in that neck of the woods a few years ago. My brother and I decided to go tour most of the Civil War sites in the area....neat trip.....beautiful country! One of my favorite experiences.
In the Gettysburg museum, I was mesmerized by a picture in front of an "infirmary".....there was a horse-drawn cart outside full of arms and legs. Caption stated that that's where the term for surgeons, "Saw Bones," came from.
My brother who was with me is an ER doctor. I asked him why they had to do so much amputation. Answer: The 50 to 60 caliber balls, so shattered the bones, there was no mending of them possible. I asked whether modern medicine could have saved most of those arms and legs...........He said no. Shattered bones are still amputated or they get infected and the patient dies.
That was sobering.......thanks for more humane bullets in war....not counting the old Viet Nam era unstable tumblers in M-16's. Those were nasty things.
I will be glad for the millennium to come when the horror and inhumanity of war will end for good.

Greg: While I totally agree with your thoughts about war, I'm afraid as long as people inhabit this(or any other) planet your are too optimistic. We can hope though!
This could be an unending discussion for a new thread!

Then we'd have to apologize to 7mm and get the h--l off his thread! But it'd probably be fun to argue about. I'm religious....I believe in the 1000 years of peace coming...I think the "Second Coming's" cleanup procedure will pretty much erase all the sources of war........for the 1000 years anyway. Yes that would be an anomaly in man's history.....but face it most of us are fairly good....take the bad element who run the world and purge them with earthquakes, floods, wars, and firestorms, and this world wouldn't be so bad................oh boy, see,......sorry 7mm......I'm done. We really do need to have a general thread to just talk..........YOU start it Bob!
