Tomorrow I get my new Nikor 200-500 lens. Can't wait to shoot something with it!

Bob, Is it a 3.5-5.6 or is it higher? Most of my zooms are in this range. The highest I have in zooms for my digital goes to 200 for my 35mmm I have one that goes to 210 but I can increase this with a 2X power converter. Just curious.

Gary, The lens is a fixed 5.6 at all focal lengths and it has the Vibration Reduction so it can be hand held even after your coffee. On my DSLR it will act like a 300-750.

Bob ~ Please let me know what you think of it. I am looking at getting the same lens. I have my 80-400mm f4.5 to 5.6 and my 70-200mm f2.8 and use both regularly. My fixed 600mm f4 is the big one but it is very heavy and cumbersome (but a fantastic lens). They are all VR and all are great lenses. I want the 200-500mm because I believe I'll use in more than the 600 due to weight and size packing it around. For wildlife photography these lenses are hard to top. I have been a Nikon guy for many years and have as much tied up in photographic equipment as I do in shooting. Guess there is no such thing as a cheap hobby. ~ Larry (SnapShot)

Larry, I'm so far very impressed! I will email you an image and you can judge for your self. I too have the 70-200 2.8 VR and the 80-400 VR and am some what jealous of your 600 f4. I know what you mean about our hobbies $$$! Bob The email will be a little later as I need to grill my venison dinner now!

Bob ~ Hope dinner was good. I got your picture and sent an e-mail response a short time ago. As I stated, I am a Nikon guy and have way too much invested in both of my hobbies (guns AND cameras). The two main bodies I use are D3 and D800e, the list of Nikor lenses is too long. ~ Stay safe and have fun; Larry
