Well guys there is a new powder out and it has the Winchester label. The new powder is Win. 572 This is a new versatile powder that can be used for shotshell and handgun applications. The Hodgdon web site has the news of this and also has load data available for it's use. As I type this very late at night I will have to send an email to see if this is a replacement for a discontinued powder from a while back Win 571 which by the way I have about 10 lb. left. Looking over their Reload Center at some of the handgun loads it looks like it will do good for cast lead loads. I will have to see if I can find any other reviews or comments on this new powder. If this new powder works as good as 571 does for me in my loads and gives the same load density and close to the same ballistics. I'll have to give it a try to find out. So for now I'll leave ya with Hodgdon's link so ya can look it over. www.hodgdon.com/ Looks like Midsouth Shooters has this powder and they have it in stock at 1 lb. and 8 lb. www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/

Give me a place to stand and a long-enough lever, and I will invariably break the lever.

Hacker, you've got the scoop again. Interesting that it's a ball powder, so it should be of interest to the guys with progressives (as well as those of us with powder measures). I'll be interested to see how it works out. I didn't see any claims of anti-fouling properties, like the CFE type powders. We were speculating a while back that would become standard.

Pooh, Just a short update. I also see that Powder Valley www.powdervalleyinc.com/ and Graf & Sons www.grafs.com/ have this powder. As of now I don't see any anti copper fouling properties in this powder. As you recall when I did my post on such type powders and that CFE Pistol is the only (for now) that is of the anti copper fouling type of powder.

Just another tid bit on this powder. This is a shotshell powder for a 12 to 28 gauge. It is to do very well in 20 & 28 gauge loads. I in my opinion think that they want this to compete with Alliant's 20/28 shotshell powder. Pooh I don't think this would have any anti copper fouling additive to it. I am hoping that it has low flash. I am waiting a reply from Hodgdon for more info.

Well I got my reply from Hodgdon on this powder. Looks according to them that it could come close to the old 571. I stated to them that the old 571 worked well in my 1oz 20ga. loads. so they sent me their list of 1oz loads in 20ga. the reply states that they are testing handgun loads and will have them available on the web site. There is some there now if you look. I'm guessing that they will add more (?) So here is the reply I got.
I sent you over all the data that I have for this powder for your 1 oz loads. We are currently working on pistol data and it will be on our website when it becomes available.
I am not sure where it would fall vs the 571 but I am sure that it is close. There are flash suppressants in all powders but the more that you put on them the dirtier they become and this has the normal that is put on our powders from what I understand.
