Well I bought another pistol (as if I needed another). As an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor I encounter a number of Glock owners. In as much as I have never owned a Glock I thought I should have one and some experience with it so I can be better informed as an instructor. Along the same logic, I bought it in 40 S&W. I had been avoiding adding another caliber to simply keep my equipment, etc to a minimum. Both of my self imposed rules (no new guns and no new calibers) went out the window and I bought a Glock Model 23 in 40 S&W. If any of you have any insight you’d like to share on the gun or the caliber, I’m always interested in those type discussions.

I own one Glock. It happens to be 40 S&W also. The Glock 27.
I have a penchant of bullet casting and handloading. Recommendations are to avoid shooting cast bullets in Glock or any other barrel with polygonal rifling. Rather than tempt fate, I purchased a Lone Wolf barrel with traditional lands and grooves.
So far, all is well.

SnaoShot, I don't have a Glock but I do have a S&W Sigma in 40 S&W. I only put three hundred rounds through it. I hope in the next couple of weeks I'll have the funds to do my own upgrades to it. I don't care for the polymer guide rod. The Glocks also come with a polymer guide rod. I plan on replacing it with a stainless steel guide rod and spring combo. The outfit that I'll be ordering from have also for Glocks and other makes of models of pistols. One of the main complaints of the Sigma was the heavy trigger pull. They were averaging 18 to 22+ pounds of pull. Yea that's heavy. Found a source for a replacement sear spring that will cut this to about 50% less. I like the 40 S&W caliber and shoot mostly 170 to 180 grain in cast and jacketed. With the warmer weather I plan on getting to the range for some handgun time.

Give me a place to stand and a long-enough lever, and I will invariably break the lever.

Thanks for the insights guys! I have drifted away from casting my own bullets and only shot store-bought cast bullets in my cowboy single action revolvers. I shoot mostly plated bullets in my semiautomatics for training and plinking. The Glock world reminds me of being a kid with an erector set. There are more 3rd party add-ons etc than any other brand out there. Every gun show I go to has table after table of Glock stuff. I do like the feel of it but because I live in the Socialist Republic of California I won' be able to actually shoot the thing until the unconstitutional ten day wait is up. I'll play with it over the next few months and let you all know how things work out. Thanks again for the comments.

Larry, If by chance you want to upgrade to a stainless guide rod and spring. Here is the Glock page from where I intend to get one for my S&W Sigma. This will also add a tad bit more weight up front by an ounce or two. ssguiderods.com/product-category/glock/
