We finally got out on Saturday and did a little shooting. I was shooting my .22 Hornet & .270 Win. I was trying some Sierra bullets for both calibers.
For the .22 Hornet I was testing the 45gr (1210) bullet with LiLGUN powder and Federal primers in Winchester brass. I started with 11.8 gr of LILGUN and increased .3 gr for each test. Right from the start the federal primers appeared to be flattened more than I like so I'm a little concerned about that. I had contacted Sierra earlier and they had said that 12-13gr of LILGUN would be fine with this bullet. Maybe I'll try CCI primers next time, too bad I still have 35 cases primed up with Federal. I did like the 12.4 gr load.
For my .270WIN I was shooting the 140gr GameKing (1845), CCI 200 Primers, IMR4451 powder & Federal brass. I started this test at 50 Gr of IMR4451 and ended at 52.1 Gr. The best group in this test was 51.2 GR. I'll try to add the pictures. Attachments:

John, Do you plan on tweaking these loads? This is what I do for my load development. I go by what you did to start out by .3 increments and the best groups from these I then go +/- each side of those loads to see if I can get'em any tighter. Looking over your targets I see two good groups for the .270 win the 51.2 and the 51.8 as both of these rest inside of an inch square. If I was doing the testing this is what the next loads would be for the .270 Win. 51.0-51.1-51.3-51.4 then 51.6-51.7-51.9-52.0 For the .22 Hornet 12.2-12.3-12.5-12.6 I have had people ask why it is just a tenth. Well depends on powder type can be quite a bit and I have had groups tighten up more by that one tenth adjustment. Let us know if you do any other testing.

Gary, I will work with them some more. The loads I started with were loaded to book length so I can still adjust that as well as change the powder charge.
Too many options and not enough time.
