How many people use muzzle brakes on there rifles. Muzzle blast vs recoil reduction. I like I can sit and watch my target at 300 and see the impact on target. But how annoying is it to someone else

I don't use or like muzzle brakes especially at the range they are very annoying. I shoot a .300 Winchester and a .325 WSM using a shoulder recoil pad and I can shoot about 40 rounds comfortably. I am old and old school we used to say if you can't take the recoil you don't need the cartridge as it is too much for you.

I'm in total agreement with Bob (especially at the range).

I have several brakes on several different guns. Be advised that people won't set up around you at the range and when some one else is shooting your gun and your on the side it will suck.
I do a lot of longe range varmit hunting (we call it pest control), and the brakes are nice for confirming hits in the scope and rapid follow up shots. With calibers smaller than a .338 brakes are in my opinion not needed. That being said I have a pair of .308 rifles, one with a clamp on brake the other with a threaded brake and am very happy with both.
I do most of my shooting alone at my farm, the cows don't care either way. Much like reduced trap loads, I can shoot more rounds more comfortable, and for me that's a win. Just be considerate of others and set up a little farther down the benches.

Give me a place to stand and a long-enough lever, and I will invariably break the lever.

Personally, I'd rather get whacked a little more for a little less noise. This is still America, so I guess you can take your choice.
It does remind me of a funny story. Many years ago, I was at the Small Arms Firing School at Perry. I was squadded with a guy from Alabama. I'd just come off the line after my first experience with an M16. I remarked that I was looking at getting one for competitive use. He looked sadly at me, and drawled, "Well, son, I guess every man has to decide just how much rahffle he can handle. "
Whatever. Happy Wednesday !

I run a couple of rifles with brakes but for watching my bullet impacts at distance I'll take the extra noise.
