Well Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there. Hope you have a most enjoyable day. Also for those that have lost their fathers take a brief moment of silence in remembrance of them.

Thanks hacker, good idea. My dad was my hero, and I was glad that he passed 2 Christmas's ago, way past due for a reunion with my mother. The suffering was finally over.....he was a vet, a father of 7, a grandfather of 35, an honest and very talented home builder, and a church goer of 94 years. I had a good father's day.....albeit noisy......3 of my 5 kids and their herds came last night.....it was fun. Another called from Tuscan as I was going to bed.....a long caaalllllll. Only damage was my ears got hot. My other boy, from Denver, sent a card.....with a Coldstone Ice cream gift card inside.....good for another overindulgent evening.

Greg, it's hard to see them go, but at some point, enough's enough. I feel blessed that both of my parents went without senility. That's the worst.
On the bright side, as Hacker and JB know, my son forked over some serious green to get us on Fifi, the CAF's B-29. As one who is fond of things that turn money into noise, (and a history geek as well) it just didn't get a whole lot better, except that he thought of it. (Speaking of noisy Father's Days...although it was a week early !)

Yes pooh, Alzeimers is the worst....dementia next....thankfully it's not all terrible. My wife's mother went that direction, but she died before she totally forgot every one. My wife and her sister still laugh thinking about some of the antics. However we would visit and she would say, "oh goody, my best friend came to visit me." No she couldn't remember the daughter part, but she at least recognized her as her best friend. Been on Fifi too! Fun! My Dad's brother piloted a B-29 during the war. My favorite non-fighter cockpit experience was a Constellation....General McArthur's command aircraft during Korea....yeah the one that brought him home when Truman fired him. Very cool "electronics" on that aircraft. Lot's of radios, but had other electrics I had no idea what was. That plane is on display in Arizona at a little air port just outside the Grand Canyon South Rim facilities. I never said I hated noise....I make plenty with guns and motorcycles......other peoples noise is okay too....for a while.

Greg, the Connie is one of those designs that just looks cool. I don't know why, but there is just something about it-more subtle than the Spitfire. I guess it's like firearms and girls. None of them are ugly-some are just cuter than others....
