Well if some of you are like me our eyes are not young anymore and are wearing glasses to enhance our sight. With me it started at age 43 wearing glasses and yes they were bifocals as I was having both far and near problems. I do not have prescription shooting glasses but my everyday eye wear is of the safety type but no side shields for them. I'm fine with a scoped rifle as my everyday glasses work fine to shoot with. Now we move over to handgun. Now I have a problem to shoot in a comfortable standing position. My everyday glasses as with most people the lower part of the bifocal is for the reading and up close work so I would have to tilt my head back to see my sights to shoot and this is not really fun. I do have sport glasses that the whole lens has the prescription for the reading and up close work. I use these a lot in my workshop using high speed tools. I use these at the range but after awhile they start to hurt just above the ears as they use a elastic strap to hold them in place. I have found a company that makes shooting glasses that have the up close to work part of the lens on the top part. These would be great for me as I wouldn't have to tilt my head back to see the sights clearly. The company is SSP Eyewear. Here is the link to their top focal glasses oh and they do have other types as well if you search their site. Take a look and judge for yourself. sspeyewear.com/collections/bifocals/products/top-focal-assorted-interchangeable-kits

Gary ~ Your input on vision and sights came the same day as my Eye Doctor's reminder that I am due for my annual check up. If you go back to my Thread of 21-OCT-2015 titled "Front Sight Vision" you'll find my introduction to Trifocals. In as much as it's been a year I am here to report that this is the greatest thing I have ever done to improve my handgun scores. As I said in the original Thread, I had the middle lens made to make my front sight crystal clear. This has worked out well in daily life as well (the dashboard is clear now too). If any of you are fighting the multiple focal length issue that comes with age, I highly recommend the Trifocal fit to your front sight as a fix. ~ Larry (SnapShot)

Larry, As it stands for now I do not need trifocals. My wife wears trifocals as she works as a cashier and this has helped her a lot. My next visit will I need trifocals time will tell. If I do need them I will do as you to get the middle set up to use my handguns.

Hello gentlemen. It's been a long while since I have been here. But here is something to add. I wore glasses since I was 7 years old. "Blind as a bat" was always an appropriate term to describe me. A year ago I decided to undergo Cataract surgery. It was a 7 minute operation but yielded great results. My vision on my right eye is now 20/25. My left eye is 20/40. And what a difference it makes on my shooting! I can now see the targets and the sights clearly. Even out to 100 yds I can see the hits on the Green glow targets. I'm really happy with results. I still reach for my glasses on the night stand occasionally but old habits die hard! Best regards Lex
