Well I took Labor Day weekend off to chase our Blacktail deer with a couple of friends. This was a rather special hunt as I was with a friend that I had not hunted with nor seen for 50 years. We were childhood buddies K-12 school and neighbors and hunted together then he moved away I got married and you can figure the rest. The hunt part of this tale was great. I got him a nice buck as well as one for my other friend then I took aim at a large 3X3 (Mule deer/western count)@ 82 yards and laying down ,presenting a perfect target, pulled the trigger and the gun went click!! Pictures were taken and high fives were shared, the deer walked off! Oh I knew the chamber was empty. We had a great couple of evenings and meals together and when my guests had filled their tags with nice bucks I felt anything else was anticlimactic, thus a great hunt!

Bob, you got the important part, and it will last longer than the meat. Thanks for sharing that-it made my day.

Bob, A very special hunt indeed. Hunting with your buddy from childhood is special. I'm sure after the hunt which from your account was great and I would guess that catching up with each other after all those years was just as great. Now you have this to put in with all the other memories of your friend.

On some level, every hunt is special. It looks like I may have a couple of days during the muzzleloader season, but otherwise, I'll be catching some time here and there as I can. Bob, will you be headed back out ? How about the rest of you ?

Pooh, our "A" zone season ended last weekend and I did go however I didn't shoot anything. I may try to go during one of the later seasons though but bird season is coming up quickly and I have that new dog to work with so we'll see. Hope you all get out and have as rewarding a time as I did.
