It had been some time since I had taken down my Mark II for a good cleaning and lubing . Well I took it down and cleaned it and lubed it in about 30 minutes no sweat . But then it came time for putting it all back together. Now that is a diffident story. First I want you to know that I love this gun, it feels like a part of me when it is in my hand and does everything I ask of it. But I am going to tell you Ruger built this pistol with a Devil built in it. Yes I know the trick to putting it back together by holding at the right angle so that so that the little lever slides into the notch on the assembly that holds it all together . I want you to know that little part is an agent of the Devil , because the only way that gun went back together, was by me finding the correct combination of words describing its ancestry which took me about an hour and a half. That is when I remembered why it had been so long since I had done a complete cleaning on it . I was really getting to hate that gun. If you have never owned a Mark I,II,II Ruger 22 pistol you know what I am talking about they are one of the finest pistols on the market and if you own one you will you will expand your vocabulary extensively.

Give me a place to stand and a long-enough lever, and I will invariably break the lever.

Wy, I too am a MK II owner, and have acquired a whole new level of linguistic skill thanks to that beast. I've been putting off that chore for a long time !

I'm a Mark III stainless Hunter owner (22/45 variant). Yes I can relate....both the positive and negative. When they make a 22/45 version of the new MK IV, I think I'm going to add one to my inventory and sell my Mk III before everybody finds out about the Mk IV!
Why? Because finally! they have redesigned the take down. I saw it demoed at the gun store last week.....wonderful! One touch takedown and reassembly! REALLY!
